I've grown several nice zoa gardens over the years and agree to everything in video, especially the nutrient params However, there's a point of potential disaster here i wish was made more clear. Healthy zoa/paly gardens thrive in nutrient rich water, but so do nuisance algae. Note how clean his tanks are. Keeping a nitrate level of 10 and phosphates at .1 in a 4 month old tank is virtually impossible. Nuisance algaes take hold suddenly , your nutrients bottom, and water changes make things worse. Most zoas can't handle this and will melt or recede. Getting those nutrient levels up and keeping a clean tank takes time, attention., and a bit of black art. Gorgeous tanks. I'm not too far from toledo and would like to make a trip.

100% this is a good point I should have touched on. There is a balance between nutrient rich and algae control.

So my levels are really high but I don't understand why my Palys are doing fine but my Zoas are receding... should water changes still help if I use an rodi system?

I think you have a unique perspective as a shop owner or worker many of us don’t get to experience as we watch from home. If you are short on video ideas I would be interested to see the mistakes you’ve made in the shops ie about the big fish wipe out, tank crashes, how you take shipment and putting the stock into tanks

Love your love for Zoas. Just recently saw your video on you visit to Cherry Corals 😍 I have two questions for you... 1: How do you keep super fast growing Zoas from taking over a garden? Calculated placement of Aiptasia X? 2: Have you gotten Zoa frags in where some just won't open? What do you do when their friends (other colors) right next to the do open?

Question for you March I few zoas and Paly the are pretty leggy (as we would say in the garden world). Two I don't know the name of but one is a single head at the moment of purple monster which from my understanding are usually tighter to the rocks. I run a maxspec razor at the moment, peak is about 55% blues and 5% white and on a 40 IM I run the Nero 3 at 25-56% random flow. Tank ATM is a few lps (Duncan, micromussa and a favia bother of those on the sand) yuma, and a few other mushrooms.

Hi from Halifax, first video I caught and it was great! I see you caught Remy's attention and he has the same question I have. I see larger substrate under the zoas. Are the zoas on tiles or do they also grow on to the larger substrate. I could see how it would make fragging easier. Thanks again for the video, please do a fragging video. I would like to see a second opinion, I assume most of us new reefers have only seen Remy's fragging videos. I have two 80 gal reef ready frag tanks and 80 gal display. My frag tank has been up for 2 months and I have a variety of 30 beginner corals.

Hey guys! I love your stuff- 2 questions on this video- I really like the pink-ish zoas with the blue centers, pink ring, and what looks like maybe torqouise lashes on the outside at around the 6:44 mark?... and then #2- the the multi colored zoas around the 8:34/8:35 mark- that have the blue eye in the very middle, then green around the eye, then the orange-ish ring, and thick purple outer lashes? Can you tell me their names? i dont' think you mentioned them?

Hey March love your videos man I'm definitely a fan, speaking of fish and ich ,I'm not shure what's going on with my tank recently I had overdosed iodine and crashed my whole tank and killed my xenias and clown, I've since started over my snails are still alive and I've got some more xenias and zoanthids doing great,I've done atleaste 3 water changes since the crash so the levels should be down now,I've tried re introducing 4 different clowns and they've all died over night how can this be I've never experienced so much trouble with clowns there's no ammonia no nitrite, could it be ich I don't see anything out of the ordinary ,bristle worms ,and tiny white worms could I have some kind of bacteria?
