Before the internet as it is today; while fishing in Thurmond Lake, Clark's hill around 1998, I hooked one of these from the bottom of the lake. After cleaning it up, replacing the duel mantles, replacing the glass, I was pleasantly surprised to find it was in perfect working condition. I contacted Coleman with the model number to ask about the manufacturer date. I was told that the model was from 1973. Six months later, while night fishing below the same dam, I accidentally knocked it off the ledge back into the same watery grave where I'd resurrected it six months earlier. I sure hope someone else saved it. By the way, I never knew this was the correct method for lighting it.😮

Just wish there was a way to preserve the mantels in transport. Always broke by the time i get the the camp ground.

I've had the same problem, I guess you just have to keep some extras on hand.

You have to clean the tip first. If you haven't used it for a while make sure you oil the plunger.

You need to clean the generator if you really want to get it to work
