I was hurt badly by the end of a long friendship a few years ago. But recently I realized I am actually appreciative of losing that friendship because it made me look at myself and realize maybe I wasn’t being the greatest friend. I was needy and sensitive and not doing a good job of regulating my own emotions. If that friendship hadn’t ended then I likely would have kept depending on them and not been pushed to grow and try to be a better and more equitable friend
@innermeetme Жыл бұрын
It is really hard to deal with those feelings... Especially when it comes to the question, "is there just something wrong with me? Am I not good enough?" I guess just the same way you get triggered by other people, others will be triggered by you. And while it is so healthy and important to be honest about your feelings, including those that could be hurtful towards others, I think the more you learn what true friendship is -- which is, for me, to choose people I am committed to, who I feel so connected to and care for so much that I would never abandon them, even if they were going through a hard time or were not at their best -- the more you will attract people like that in your life. And quite frankly a lot of people do end friendships because they are not willing to look deeply within themselves to see if their "triggers" point to something they need to work on (they always do) or if the friendship really isn't deep enough to save. But for me that's the point: is the connection so deep that you'll always be there? I don't really invest myself in people that I don't feel fully loyal to, and who don't feel fully loyal to me. Life is hard and dealing with people is hard but being honest with yourself while respecting and loving yourself (and others) is so important. Not everyone will be that way
@user-dq2ym1nn9k Жыл бұрын
I had a long term friendship end too, and it is (was) the most painful experience, however I'm also grateful for the lesson: I need to learn to be my own best friend first and foremost. Depending so heavily on a 'best friend' is setting yourself up for disaster if that person is no longer in your life for any reason. It can happen.
@skiyogagirl Жыл бұрын
@@user-dq2ym1nn9k also, it can give you an opportunity to spend time with other friends who deserve your friendship! The older I get the more it has become clear that at the centre of most of our problems is the propensity towards self obsession. The more we can move ourselves away from existing as the centre of the universe and begin to shine our torch on truly investigating others lives and other worlds outside of ourselves the less suffering we experience. This one move is extremely powerful in connecting us together and is remarkable in its healing aspects.

Love your sass, opinions, outtakes, boundaries and character. I found your channel as I wanted to know why people change their names as I’m going to. I’m going through a divorce and you are helping me stand by my decisions when people are telling me what I should do for my future and am able to brush off their opinions more easily. Can’t thank you enough for that, the videos really mean that much to me. Watch your videos daily.

There are some great videos on KZbin about leading a narcissist & moving on with your life. A lot of people who enable the narcissist ( like friends or family) are so duped by the narcissist they don’t even realize what they’re doing. My friend is a therapist who left her marriage to a narcissist after 35 years & she’s so ecstatic she finally did it. You’ll be fine. Find the videos, they’ll give you strength!

@@theresagarza1578 Thank you so much! You have no idea how much I need to hear it. I’ve been researching it on youtube for 6yrs and I always thought he was just in a bad mood all the time. Didn’t know it was abuse. 32yrs of hell has been enough and grew up with a sister who did the same to me and my Mum enabled her. I call people who give me hope divorce heroes. You are one of them! As soon as I found the videos my first thought was that I had to get my head together and I have, can’t believe how much I’ve changed. Took me a few months to actually say the words out loud that I had to leave. I was still a teen when I met him. Now I can decorate my house and I’m changing my name (despite people hating my potential name).

I love this so much!!!! I often was called too loud, passionate, or intense but I genuinely can't help yelling, exclaim, or being expressive. I had a group of friends who always hated it and wanted me to be quiet. But I finally found a few good people who are just like me and I feel safe to be myself around. Also my job is literally advocacy so I'm paid to be loud and cause trouble haha Sometimes I miss having a big group of friends but I genuinely have more meaningful individual friendships now. It took me a while to find them, but I finally did ❤

Yes girl!!! I wish we were friends , it’s so hard making friends as an adult. I use to have most of my friends through my job but now I’m a stay at home mom who moved 45 mins away from my old town and now am in Crofton. I met a random lady at target who was like I love ur ugg boots and after texting for a few weeks I find out she’s like a pyramid scheme type of job and wanted me to join a zoom meeting smh like no thank u. Anyways thanks for sharing ur wisdom and being so inspiring. ❤❤❤

Gurl….you had me on pins and needles watching you disassemble that picture frame. I used to be a custom picture framer in my past life and you are SO LUCKY the glass didn’t shatter all over your bed. The little metal pieces are called spring clips and they are there to create tension so everything stays in place. Next time, remove them FIRST…for safety reasons. 🤪 Love your videos, your personality and your sense of humor! Thank you for sharing!!

@laurieb6163 Жыл бұрын
Happy to help! The piece wasn’t very big so you’re probably good without the rest of the clips. Be mindful of the glass edges as well - the are likely quite sharp - do not run your fingers up and down along the edges. 🩸

Your personality is perfect. Keep yelling. One thing i have learned im my 58 years (the first 30 or so being a people pleaser) is.... Never shrink yourself for anyone. Be your ginormous, only partly polished, questioning, seeking, messy, loving self. It is the only way to attract people who DO get you, and love you just as you are. It took a lot of "shrinking to please" to figure out that strategy doesnt work long term. And it's likely to turn you into a serial killer.

Wow you hit the nail on the head. I've always been kind of snarky and sarcastic and I think....... mostly pretty darn funny. But there was a time (when I was trying to be a proper Air Force wife in my 20s and 30s) where I felt like I was a horrible person and that my natural personality just sucked. But I'm not! And I was never happy trying to conform to my then husband's expectations. I now am with someone who fully LOVES me for my wit and humor and it has made all the difference in the world. The haters need to just shut up and figure out why they have to be so nasty because I guarantee they are all miserable in their own lives. Otherwise, they'd be like, "yah, this isn't for me" and move on. Love ya! and I always look forward to your videos!

Love your channel! Nothing but joy! Just to insert myself in the joy, here’s a tiny framing tip - you never have to take the whole thing apart. Simply remove one end slide art back in. Et voilà! Attach the one piece that you removed. So much easier. Bisous!
