I've got old faithful and every gun in the game! Seriously! I'm also the oldest Fallout fan. I'm 72yrs old and have played every fallout over and over until the next comes out! I carry four guns! Overseers Guardian, Delieverer, Tinker Tom (molded to 306 ammo) and my quad barrel fire and forget missile launcher! I only use the missiles in dire circumstances! Peace out,ya'll!

You can gain access to the vault for free by making a speech check. Put on any CHA clothes, drink some alcohol that increases CHA and stims that do the same. Once you have done that save the game and do the dialogue. Say you got the pip boy from vault 111 and then that you want to do some trading. When the overseer comes on the coms, there should be a speech option. If it fails, just load and try again. Might take a few tries depending on how high you managed to get your CHA.

Here's a guide to get this weapon fast. Step one: have at least 6 charisma Step 2: get 10 by grabbing the black-rim glasses in the mole rat den under red rocket where you find dogmeat, grabbing a militia hat from the minutemen in front of the Museum of Freedom, and buying a set of clothes that gives +2. If you can't find a set of clothes, there are two daytrippers in the concord speakeasy. Step 3: Use your high charisma to get the max amount of caps for Solomon's, Moe's, and any other quest in Diamond City that gets you caps. Step 4: Start Diamond City Blues and get the chems. Step 5: Use high charisma clothes to enter Vault 81 Step 6: Use the caps and chems to buy Overseer's Guardian and anything else you need. Bonus Tip: You get half the mag whenever you pick up a weapon. Pick up all the submachine guns while rescuing Nick to get lots of .45 ammo Enjoy!

You could find some gold bars and some resources to sell near sanctuary, including the fusion cores the overseer gonna ask. Tho, cricket might also hang out near the cave entrance. So I usually try to find enough caps before going to Vault 81 for both Overseer Guardian plus Spray and Pray.

My only hotkeyed weapons were Righteous Authority and Spray N Pray, RA didn't do shit. But once I switched and started hosing them with explosive rounds, fight ended real quick

The Two Shot legendary effect is probably one of my favorite legendary effects. It is rarely if ever the best option for a given situation, but it is consistently a good option for lots of situations. The effect triggers with every shot regardless of your perks, your target, time of day, how addicted/withdrawn you are, in and out of VATS, or how many rounds in the magazine. While it doesn't actually do double damage like you might think from the description of the effect, it is still a nice damage boost for many gun types. I do think Furious and Wounding are better effects for full auto guns and Instigating a better effect for snipers, but Two Shot, and especially the Overseer's Guardian, is just a good enough gun for most situations that it becomes my most used gun.

I agree, it's pretty much my all round weapon to. Very handy, easy to get and plentiful ammo too. The only time I don't tend to use this is usually when I'm going full melee. I'm happy I'm not the only folk out there who thinks this is a pretty solid weapon.

a short barrel, a reflex aim, the suppressor and the stead hands perk for massive DPS, or a semi auto with long barrel for crits. Shine both ways

Yeah, I pretty much use the Overseer's Guardian with reflex sight 80% of the game. Then a 2 shot 10mm pistol for close range, 50cal sniper for long range, chinese grenade launcher for anything big.

I like using The Overseer’s Guardian as a powerful sniper gun. Although the Ratslayer will always be my favorite sniper gun, too bad they didn’t include it and some of the other weapons from Vegas that would have been great.

Me too, I do like to use it as a sniper weapon also. Until I get something a little better in terms of power output, The Overseer's Guardian serves a great purpose. That said it's even been part of my end game builds too.

For me must have guns in game are : 1. 10mm Deliverer , get for free from Railroad first mission , best start 10mm in game . 2. .45 Pray'n'spray easy to get , just need to get cash & luck to meet Cricket , issue might be ammo as she it it quickly , but this is most OP weapon in game that you can just get "it just works". 3. .308 The Overseet's guardian is great .308 sniper weapon , only issue can be having 3 fusion cores at the start of the game . 4. 5.56 December Child is much better that assault rifles ... as dont look as shit , but shoot 5.56 ammo . 5. shootgun Le Fussil Terribles , is best shootgun for vats and is pretty easy to get , aleternative is Justice . 6. 7.62 Splattercannon , I allways paint it deciples colors and call it "Tarantal" *** ... but most op guns in game are ... bolt action pistol .308 & .50 pistols + sneak built in vats , just op.

Upgrade ur automatic weapons to lever 5 and switch this to the short ported barrel instead of long and to the strongest automatic version and you'll be blown away with how amazing it is, I do that on every playthrough

After the update, .308 double shot rifle is useless in Vats. It almost always MISS the who shots, incredible. For scoped rifle, the brst hability is "double damage if target has full life"

The fusion cores is the easiest option. You can persuade your way in there too if you have high charisma.

Yeap, that's right. Further more this is a great weapon to have early game. If you then compound this with certain perks then you ate good to go early in the game.

The spicy part is when you use the attachment swap exploit on a random legendary weapon like a pipe pistol and add things like mirv (so double mirv or a Gatling laser with double shot and weapon attachment exploit)

The gun is good for a long range sniper gun, but i prefer to use it in middle/close range, reflex sight, short stock, quick eject mag, even short barrel can decrease it's AP cost using it in VATS significantly, giving way more shots at full AP. (scopes, full stocks, big magazines, long barrel all increase all weapon's AP cost.).

It's a really solid weapon and one of my personal favorites. Most time when I am creating content, I end up using this weapon to help me take out enemies for content preparation. it really is a useful weapon and basically get's the job done.

Any gun with the Deadeye legendary effect is OP. The slow time feature lasts long enough for you to put in multiple head shots - no need for VATS. I've taken down Mirelurk Queens with a Deadeye .45 pipe rifle.

The Deadeye effect is one of my personal favourites. It almost feels like a hidden mode in the game that activates when you go into scope mode. Sometimes it's not about the power but the accuracy of your shots.

The Kiloton Rifle obtained from Far Harbor's Children of Atom faction has the best bang for your buck, no pun intended. Ballistic, explosive, AND radiation. Plus, easily used in single shot for sniping or rapid fire for crowd control. Doesn't look like you've done a video for that. Though, The Overseer's Guardian is easily one of the best guaranteed obtainable weapons in the vanilla game, no save-scumming required.

I’m on a recent recent game. I got OG but have also gotten 2 double shot combat rifles. Gave OG to Cait and carry the other 2 where one is a sniper rifle and then the other small machine gun.

They are both very powerful weapons. Honestly, the 2 for 1 legendary effect is a very powerful one. Especially when you have so many perks and bonuses that can easily add up to damaging an enemy when they are at full health.

Explosive combat shotgun is well above the overseers guardian. Overseers Guardian is a good gun in the early to mid levels. But can easily be outclassed later on. The explosive damage alone on the explosive combat shotgun outclasses the rifles double damage, as well as having AoE. The only drawback is you can't use it point blank or in tight quarters.

Wounding's DPS is better. Also the OG is only maximized on a sneak crit build, it can easily hit 1k damage a shot at high levels with the .308 conversion.

Fair points however playstyle and builds/perks play a part too. If your talking about just the raw damage then I'll give it to you. But with the right perks and playstyle (sneaking) you can get some impressive one hit kills on almost anything, even towards the end game. But to do that you would need to have a build centered around sniper weapons. I guess the same can be said for explosive weapons too.

@@TrappedInFallout funny thing with the explosive legendary effect is it applies to the bullet. The combat shotgun fires 7 bullets, which the explosive stacks to up to an extra 30 damage per pellet, which can all crit and do even more. Combine that with suppressor, sneak crit, and explosive skills, the damages is easily over 1000 and does AOE. Making it good for wiping out large groups with single shot even better then the Fat Man

Literally the only major issue with the explosive combat shotgun is you are absolutely not guaranteed to get it. You can spend HOURS save-scumming to get it. I've actually gotten bored constantly getting it each playthrough, so I started switching up what builds I try for. Last was melee only, and while tough at first, you can become surprisingly OP with the right build and weapons\armor combo.

The only thing I hate about this game is that the scopes do not align with the player's eyes. The players hold scoped sniper rifles as if they are holding regular rifles.

My go to is the 2 round 10mm and rank up pistol damage to double plus the crit part. Everything falls but Super Mutants. I use the auto plasma rifle for that. Done son

You don't even need a high Charisma build. With Daytripper, Grape Mentats, and Cha clothing (a hat, glasses and trench coat) I bumped my Charisma from 1 to over 10. Passing the speech check at the door was simple, and I saved a ton on the cost of the gun as well. And I'll tell you, that stuff is way cheaper than a few fusion cores.

I found a defiant gauss rifle at one point and its ridiculous how much damage it can do with one shot. Intentionally keep it with just one shot in the mag most of the time until i find something like a legendary enemy. Even without sneak multipliers etc I'm pretty sure it does close to 600 damage with one shot 😂

I totally agree. I am not too sure about the damage output right now but it does do a considerable amount of damage. Because it also doubles up as a long rage weapon, it also benefits from a range of perks etc. It's worth keeping that one for sure.

I've never bothered with this rifle in my previous games, but I gave it a go in my current game. I'm glad I did! I almost wish I went to Vault 81 50 levels ago to get it, I suppose there's always 'next time' right?

Yes there is always that for sure. It's a solid weapon and getting it early enough will really give you a big boost in terms of damage for sure. It's almost always ends up being my own end game weapon.

At first let me thank you for the wonderfull video you made. The Overseer Gaurdian. My Former most favorit weapon and the only one in vanila gameplay. The Manwell rifleset from creation club beats it. If you use the Overseer Gaurdian as a sniper use; the best scope ofcourse use the single round option instead it saves bullets a lot and gives the best damage per bullet. And yeah like you said the 308 rounds is what you need. I prever the silenser. Note; if you can get your hands on a two shot sniper rifle that will do the best damage as a sniper. You must have a high real life luck to get your hands on this one, haven't seen one in years. There was a glitch to get them always, but they patched that glitch. If you use it as a combat rifle, my favorit, Use no scope at all, it will hinder you. I use the ring or dot. And again I'll use the single round 308 bullets and a silenser. In the vanila game, there is no any combat rifle better as the Overseer Gaurdian. Its pretty common to get a second or even fourth two shots combat rifle(s) leggit. High change a legendary enemy drops one. I laughed and got mad same time as you entered vault 88 and rushed to Alexis. Its no need to say that you'll missed out a lot of fun missions and lore wich you can only do at first arive. If you wanna be a completionist like Iam, you would ruin your change there. lol

Hi Herman, thanks so much for your detailed feedback. I actually use the weapon as both a Sniper and a Combat Weapon, depending on the play style. I personally go with a Sniper build and this usually keeps me happy up until the endgame. That said if I manage to find a wrleapon that out performs it then I do switch it out. Basically the OG is a very versatile weapon that you can modify based on your playstyle.

That's right. When it shoots, it shoots two bullets but only 2 bullet is removed.

This weapon is waaaay overhyped, IMO. Its does a ton a damage, yes, but its also has a serious downside. The two-shot legendary effect make it almost impossible to use on VATS mode. Even with maximum hit chance, it still misses a lot of shots, like A LOT (more than 50% miss rate, at least).

I don't know. This is my go to weapon and I tend to land most of my hits with this. I do agree it's a little hyped though as there are better weapons out there for sniping. However its a great early weapon for sure.

@@TrappedInFallout Being highly unreliable on VATS is a huge downside for this weapon, IMO, cuz I use to rely a lot on VATS to deal with "I'm surrounded by a bunch of baddies" situations. Being ganged up by a pack of feral ghouls can be quite deadly at higher difficulties, so, being able to use VATS as a "crowd control" method (be it by incapacitating them of moving or just by one shoting them) it's an easy way survive.

I'll put my hand up and say that I'm a little confused y what you mean. It's a pretty standard weapon, easy enough to get and not everyone is able to use mods. With the right perks and kit this can also be considered an end game weapon.

Sorry, but thoose Tips are plain and simple wrong. For the initial Ranged Shots from hiding there are better Weapons - like the "Ol Faithful" from Arturo (one of the best Guns aside the "Righteous Authority" from Paladin Danse. But the Perks and its recommedations are insaneley wrong. Choose ONE Type and stick to it - use the other Points to create Synergies (Bonus that add up - you will see what I mean later). First, some basic Mechanics: "From the Hip" means the shots you do without using the Aiming - just basic Crosshair. But, in VATS, this is determined by the Sights you have - Scope or Sights. This affects when using VATS if the "Steady Aim" Perks apply (Sights up to Reflex Sights) or the "Sniper"-Perks do (Scopes). Also, the AP-usage isn't fix - it changes by the Weapons setup. A short, light Barrel for example reduces the AP usage significantly. And Sights so use less significantly. Also, the Stock determines the usage of AP. Every reduction in "from hip Acc" also applys to AP-usage by increase it as well as Scoped increas in accuracy does - so there is a "aweet Spot" in the middle. The second Thing is the decision between "Rifleman" and "Commando" Commando is sureley a insane Damage boost, but the only way you get a Penetration Effect (ignores X% Enemys Defense) is the later Recievers, and thoose are not too high compared to the same Effect you get later in the Rifleman Perks. Yet, the Damage output overall from Automatic Weaponry is insane as well as the pure worth of Ammo you shoot and its weight when in Survival - just the "Damage per Bullet shot" falls off significantly. Also, Automatic Shots cost more AP again - and I prefer "lots of shots" each for them alone - as "clicking fast" I can do on my own and Jet is a good old Friend. So, for the *Setup:* - .308 is ok, alternativeley the strongest Damage+ Reciever you can get. - Short barrels - preferred the light and perforated Version for additional "Hip-fire Accuracy". - Reflex Sights (no Scopes!). - Short Stock (yeah, the basic shite, I mean it!) - Silencer Keep in mind, you can take the Mods out of another (same Type) Gun and put in in the one you want - you do not need the Crafting Perks to do so. This is needed to make this a insane Killer and work even with the Luck/VATS-Skills or without. Overall, this Gun now needs nearly no AP to be shot. Due to the Scope, it counts as "Shot from the Hip" in Vats - means, the Strengh:6 Perk "Steady Aim" applys - with 15%/30% Acc Bonus and a similar significant Damage Bonus later on when not using the "Aim" rather than the basic Crosshair or VATS. And that brings us to the *Perks:* - Steady Aim: Increases the "From the Hip"-Accuracy significantly - meaning, your Crosshair gets smaller and you gain +15%/+30% Acc in VATS overall plus the latter Damage Boon at 3rd Rank. The opposing Choice to this is "Sniper" when using Scopes. Also, Steady Aim makes up for the Accuracy Loss due to the shorter Barrel aka less range of that Weapon in VATS. - Rifleman: This is meant to ne the Single Shot version. Feel free to go "Commando", but I found it a hassle as constantly the Ammo was very costly and heavy. Also, Rifleman comes with a huge Damage Bonus later on due to its "Armor Reduction"-Effect in the last Ranks. - Mister Sandman: This Perk adds 15%/30%/50% Damage to a Weapon that has a Silencer Attached. Flat. - Ninja: Increases your Sneak Attack Multiplicator to x2.5/x3/x3.5 Times - Silenced Weaponry is harder to detect when fired so "get away and hide again" Guerillia is way easier as you can get much closer to Enemies without instantly be revealed when shooting. Also, you can potentially pick more than one Enemy in one VATS-Turn off with that Bonus as they do not reveal you before you hit them. - The whole Luck-stuff from 6-9 about saving up Crits and refilling AP/Crit-Meter. Makes you insaneley deadly when needed and allows you to constantly use VATS. - Bloody Mess: Little Damage Boost, but nonetheless - a Damage Boost. Advanced Perks: - Nerd Rage: Insane for a "last Stance" Situation. - Penetrator: First, you can now always hit Enemys behind Walls - basically a Wallhack for some decreased Acc - which is totally negated in the 2nd Rank. You shoot completeley hidden Enemies through Walls with VATS. - Concentrated Fire: Adds additional Accuracy when targeting Bodyparts in Vats - 10%/15%/20% Accuracy. And on the 3rd Rank, also 20% Damage. for the second, third and fourth Target. This means, as longer you shoot the same Part (like a Head), as more accurate you get and do more Damage. - Gun Fu: This adds Damage on targeting additional Targets in VATS. 25% for the second one, 50% for the third and from the fourth on - all Hits are Crits. This is not "Target-Bound; it just counts if you "swap" target. So, shooting A, then B and then A gain makes the Game count the third shot as "third Target". Most People know about Silencers and the Mr.Sandman Effect, but the most do not get the VATS-Mechanics and how insaneley powerful they are. As, Range is a "visibility"-Thing, and so "Penetrator" also reduces the reduction in Accuracy on range in VATS as well as Steady Aim haps a lot. You really become kinda Grammaton Cleric (if not knowing what I talk about, look up "Equilibrium fight Scenes") with this. BTW: If you are a Pistol user and need a Snipe - the Energy Weapons arew your Friend - especially the "Ol Faithful" and "Righteous Authority". Sharpshooters Grip (makes em a Pistol), Sniper Barrel and focussed Lenses as well as Reflex sights and a overcharged Capacitor. Have fun.

In terms of perks i basically mention all the perks that would help but I do mention if you go with automation or semi auto. I also tend to mention general perks too that would help. Any new start of Fallout 4, I always pick up this weapon first thing. If you know what you are doing, other than dealing with a few bugs in Sanctuary, you can get it without ever being in a fight first.

It is relatively easy to get early which is a blessing. I still tend to have this weapon during my endgame.
