What an interesting recipe, I'll be sure to try it! Although a lot of pesticides are absorbed by citrus fruits, so it is best to use organically grown alternatives when possible. Another non-food use for orange peel: when dried completely, it serves as additional kindling for a fireplace in colder climates such as here in Scandinavia, as the aromatic oils in the dried peel makes it burn well (and it adds a nice smell to the house while drying). Tried this recipe, peels were bitter in the end. I saw another recipe that requires three separate boils of the peels to eliminate the bitterness. Will give that a try. Washing with baking soda is a great idea. Thanks for sharing.
