As someone who is not a professional taper and am in the midst of tackling a complete bathroom gut and remodel in my 1.5 story cape cod home by myself, thank you for the edumacation and the tips. This video is great and will come in very handy. One quick question although maybe it's better suited for a different one of your videos: In a bathroom and specifically the areas that may get water splashed on them (bathtub, sink area, lower part of walls) do you recommend using mold/mildew mesh tape or do you still prefer using paper tape? I have both and did do the ceiling joints with mesh tape but now I'm concerned about strength. The roof is above the bathroom I'm doing and all the studs are plumb now. I have blown in insulation above the ceiling already (18") and the house is old (1947). Thanks for making these videos. Very helpful.

I really want to learn to do this stuff the right way. I work in a building and get paid by an hour. Problem here is that the guy who is teaching me does stuff really quick because the building owner and manager are pushing for the next tenant to get in always the same story no matter what 😔 that factor make us do a lot of mistakes and not perfect jobs like you do and I would love to do stuff the way you do. Imagine I only mostly used quick set 5 minutes, 20 or 45 and only really weird when I use topping. Amazing Job my friend I am your apprentice 🙏 sensei 😂

Hey mate. Love your videos, watch them as relaxation 😊. You obvious have great knowledge and experience, doing drywalls. Coming from masonry I like to use only the trowel on inside corners (I use it for everything really, maybe a wide knife or the 12" now and then). Makes corners faster and I can blend out further in one go. A bit surpsised why its so rare because its perfectly square and you draw of all the left overs on the oposite side with the same stroke as you smooth the side youre on. Keep up the good work👍🏻

I noticed you used short pieces of tape on the two walls leading into the corners. Does that make it easier to work instead of using a long piece of tape that would run the length of the wall? Also, if you do use short pieces, do you just butt up the next piece, or overlap it to finish taping the wall going away from the corner? Thanks!

da324 I am dying to know this same thing! Guessing this was just for the demo; to do the job properly we would measure and precut the paper tape to size of the entire length of the seam.

Great stuff Ben, thx for all the vids! Something I've been struggling with is joints where one side is new 1/2" drywall and the other side is 5/8" textured & painted. So theres quite a difference as far as the two sides being flush with each other. Any tips or possibly a video on how to tackle this type of issue? I am currently trying to mud these joints (entire bathroom remodel) and it's not going too well so far.
@twosencefromcleveland6084
@twosencefromcleveland6084 5 жыл бұрын
D J, Since I guess the drywall is installed, you will have to use a wide prefill on the 1/2 inch side only; 24 inches if you can. Then, sand the top off the texture (you can't remove it all since it is painted), and skim a tight layer of 20 minute mud over the texture about 12 inches wide. After setting, lightly sand the crumbs and ridges, then tape the joint as usual and run a double wide top coat. This should hide that difference. The next time, make sure the hanger flushes the surfaces as they apply the board.

patrick morgan actually, the way he tears the sponge allows you to square the angle out. If you use the point off the sponge, you groove and round the angle. I could also say they don’t use a roller, don’t know if he fills gaps with bond, etc. tape could not be wiped properly and be rounded. All subjective. If he puts out nice work, he puts out nice work
