Remember folks learn to play in first ! It great stuff i feel i spent years trying to play outside but kept comming back to inside Only after years exploring the great american songbook from blues ballads bossa and bop did i begin to apreciate out ! Its a balance bettween the two

The important part that I've learned is to learn to play patterns but no one should be able to hear the pattern.

Patterns . I cheat with them sometimes.

Very cool! I've heard and copied the content from Schofield where he just throws a quick chromatic outside thing going from in key, staying in the groove but going out of Anything related to the key, and landing on the next chord. It lasts about 1 bar , but Always stays in the groove. I've seen Metheny play like chromatic augmented things in the same fashion, but perhaps 2 or 3 bars. But Henderson seems to run on and on, and I figured it was a motion of 4ths, and he seems prone to sharp 11ths as well just because they can have that fingernails on a chalkboard effect to the harmony. Very cool stuff!
