This video is pure gold! As a video editor, I started my freelance journey charging just $20 per video for stock finance footage. Now, I confidently charge $300 per video. The key takeaway? The more you immerse yourself in the industry, gain experience, and refine your skills, the higher your rates will go. Here's my advice: always strive to improve your craft, and most importantly, avoid cheap clients at all costs-they often undervalue your work and drain your energy. Keep pushing forward and know your worth!

You're a game changer, bro, I've been editing for about 3 and a half years now, and I've nailed some pretty complex editing styles. I even have some decent blender skills. but man, I’ve never charged the kind of prices you mentioned. Like, for a video like this, I wouldn’t even think of asking more than $100 I’m always scared it’s too much😢. Guess it’s time to shift my mindset!

Very Nice video brother, just some notes that I think would motivate new editors more: Although client size can impact your pay, that doesn't mean small ones can't pay big. I've had a client with >3k followers paying $2,500 per project. This leads me to the next point, 'pro prices' don't particularly cap at $1,000, and they aren't typically agencies. You can get standard content creators paying $3,000-$5,000 per project. Very nice video nonetheless. A lot of noise in this space, but you've got a good heart and good advice!

with the variations of currencies it becomes difficult. someone making 1500 in the philippines vs canada when the skill doesnt change. one can live comfortably when the other wouldnt even pay rent.

Hey fellow video editors, I have this dilemma and I hope you guys can answer this. I’ve been working as a video editor for a marketing agency for the past two years. They manage over 10 clients, most of whom are in the sports niche. Right now, I’m getting paid $15 per video-this was bumped up from $13 when I started two years ago. The work is fairly straightforward, mainly involving captions and a few creative elements here and there (they’re not too picky since they require daily reels). Here’s the challenge: I’ve been learning After Effects daily to improve my skills, but I can’t really apply what I’m learning to their projects because it’s time-intensive, and the pay doesn’t justify it. While making $100 a day where I live is excellent (I earn around $2.5k to $3k monthly), I’m concerned about stagnating and spending years doing basic edits without progressing my craft or my income. What do you think I should do in this situation? How can I balance earning well now while setting myself up for bigger opportunities in the future? Thanks to everyone helping me out in advance!

Hey is it unfair? Im working with an agency that gives $15 only for 1 short. Short includes (New multi caption style, movie clips) typically go upto 50 seconds. And im working with smaller agency which had only 4 clients (fitness based content) And i had said them the same price $15. Im from Pakistan, and i think they had cracked it to give $15 😭
@josephvideoediting6 сағат бұрын
yeah of course, a lot of agencies do that, so make sure to give your honest prices and not shake them for anything they say bro
