Affordability is good, but access for younger kids is as important. Nothing sucks more than a little kid going to their to their local target or Walmart to buy some cards, but the shelves are empty. Doesn't matter how much they if there nothing there.

It’s okay to cry brother! I got back into the hobby because I needed the money of my two raw Trout RC’s to help with the weekend celebration of life for my Grandma. Her and I had an incredible relationship that was built on a love for family, baseball, and food. Continue your genuine love for the community and the hobby. Emphasis on the community first.

You tell ‘em Jay! Not gamed used jerseys is stupid to begin with lol and I can relate to your emotions. I lost my boyfriend who was also my best friend and we collected cards together for 10 years until he passed in 2020. I still look back at some of those cards and the tears fall. You’re a genuine person and that’s why I absolutely adore you 🥰

I think my biggest pet peeve in breaking is when people try to hype stuff up and aren’t honest about the potential value of hits. Some guys buy boxes of early 90’s junk wax where the best hits are 5 bucks at best and yet they’re complaining that the packs are selling for 7. The whole thing is a gamble and that should be understood, but I just wish some guys wouldn’t try to subtly inflate the values in people’s minds through manipulation. Like you said, for most people breaking is about a good time with small chances of making money, but just be real about it! Honesty and transparency is key!

I think retail is great for introducing people into the hobby at a cheaper price point. Kids & Adults alike learn about the cards and get to collect their fav players without paying mad money. It's why I set up a shop in 🇮🇪, to help the hobby grow over this side of the world💪😁. Love your work Mojo 👌

I just found your videos the other day, and I must say, your respect for this hobby is admirable. When I watch card show videos, far too often, I see guys disrespecting sellers, downgrading their cards, throwing slabs on tables. Just complete disrespect. You are the opposite. Thank you for sharing your story and reminding us of why we genuinely collect. It isn’t always about the money. Pulling a base rookie out of a retail box is sometimes the same feeling as pulling a 1/1. It’s all perspective. Thanks for the videos and continued success to you. You’re doing it right!

I'd recommend that lesser player cards are included in the card sets. We get too much players, going all the way to the 15th Roster spot (Basketball) and even G-Leaguers. These sort of player cards. This causes too much disappointment when breaking the boxes. Thanks for the tips, Jay!

I make sure that everybody that pays for a spot in the break gets to equal value from what they put out. So that means if I buy $100 spy I get $100 worth of cards I don’t know mystery packs or consolation prize you know I’m not saying everybody’s a winner but it’s been too many times that I’ve paid a substantial amount of money, and I don’t get a quarter of the return. I would likechange that.

Another great video and the tears are authenticity! I got back into the hobby in 2018 buying Target boxes because i couldn't afford hobby boxes. Once I was able to afford hobby boxes, they skyrocketed and now i can barely afford them. That's why i love whatnot because i can get those good cards without having to put down a fortune for a hobby box. Hope I can still afford hobby boxes in the future!

I agreed with you. Boxes are way too expensive. I’m the father of three. My son is 9 and it’s very hard to be able to even afford to ever buy him a hobby box. He loves opening up cards. We go to the local card shop and I usually just buy him $1 packs of 1989 baseball cards in hopes of him pulling another Ken Griffey Jr rookie, which he has pulled a few. I usually get a hobby box a few times per year then let him open packs of it with me. It needs to become cheaper. I love your idea of having only game used patches or other memorabilia. Tell us about what game it was from and details about it. Me and my family are huge into baseball. Two years ago my son fell out of a wagon he was being pulled in by his sister around the yard. He hit his head and ended up needed to be medivaced to Seattle and had surgery. We spent a few months in Seattle, WA at Harborview medical center. He thank God is fully recovered but i got into cards again with him down there. I also quit drinking almost two years ago in October. I really relate to all of your content. And me and my son enjoy the hobby together and that’s what it’s all about. Keep it up!!

Blessup Mojo...im late to the party, but I dig....I was buying packs since 95' when they was $2 up to $7 for topps finest...got a few boxes which was $38 for 36 packs "95-96 hoops box" "skybox premium box" and upper deck boxes, collectors choice packs was only a dollar then... then I left it around early 2000's...25yrs later I retrieved my 2 binders of cards from my cousin...kobe rookies, iverson, kidd, mj cards and inserts..so then I began buying blasters up to today got a few wemby's I just cant get into spending over $500 on a box....but I do think about it at times lol!....but im 46 and just getting that Nostalgic feeling is enough....my wife saw the LBJ and Bronny duel auto and how much it may go for and she was like "Guess its an investment" I will do it ....

Never collected as a kid but was always interested. Now I’m definitely trying to learn more about the hobby. I can see that retail being the affordable option and hobby boxes being more collectors. I also agree with those that say hobby boxes need to be more affordable so everyone can partake. Maybe there needs to be more than just two tiers.

Definitely make the boxes more affordable is first. But what I think needs to change is making the images on the cards reflect the sports moments we are watching more often. Making a chase card of Lebron shooting the shot that broke the record, Tom Brady's last pass in the NFL, a prospects first hit in the majors. Anything that would change using one image for all 100000 parallel's they make to embrace why we watch sports and collect sports cards.

Been buying and selling single, boxes cases since 1996. Had occasionally opened packs since 1971...yes I am old. IMHO- single company licensing and Panini caused the prices to increase and the pandemic compound it. Previously competition between Fleer, UD, Topps, Donruss prices were decent.

Just getting back into collecting and have watched you for years. Used to watch for the autographs and stuff a ton back in those days. Glad to see you’re collecting as well!! My advice for card companies is not to inflate something like cards because of “the hype” or whatever. I miss the days like you said where blasters were $20, hangers were $10 value packs were $5, and retail packs were $2-3. Things have changed immensely. Also something I wish would stop is loading the “product hits” into the packs so soon. I don’t think it’s something talked about much, but I notice “product hits just blasting out of products almost as soon as they release. Makes the chase not as fun, especially too when they’re only found in hobby and never retail. Idk just my opinion. Keep doing what you’re doing, love the videos! Would love to win the Prizm pack!!

Making some of the expensive stuff affordable, for sure. And a higher quality control on autos. Some of them look like a few letters or a symbol, and they charge a premium for them. If I'm paying that high of a price, I want an auto that looks like one, not something that looks like it was the 1000th sticker signed and it could've been their homie or assistant signing it. It's okay to cry, homie. Good on you, brother.

I would like to see more hits in retail. I buy constantly because I love the hobby and love sports but I know every time that I buy I'm loosing $ with no hope of ever getting it back. At least with the higher end stuff hobby boxes included, you have a chance, like Gambling it's a low chance but a chance no the less which you don't get with retail IMO. Anyway buddy I have a handful of Rodgers cards for ya so hopefully see you at the next south st card show. Take care

This is the new junk wax era except everything is inflated. As soon as the investors start pulling out of the hobby, things should get back to normal. I saw the same thing happen in the mid 90's which led to consolidation of the number of manufacturers. You asked what one thing I would change, it would be for collectors to stop getting cards graded. The grading companies are the ones really making money today.

Shouldn’t release cards with out Branding for league or sport n teams Hurts cards price Love there be numbered sets n boxes n keep prices down Got help the hobby sone how Not everyone can afford higher price cards That why now easier to buy into card breaks , or second hand off eBay of player or just the cards u want or lots of same player without breaking the bank 😊

You shouldn’t be able to make money off retail boxes. That is true. You should be able to pull a nice card that you could make money on though. Not base but bigger hits in a retail box. Should be much less cards to make money on and flip. Hobby shouldn’t be making money reselling boxes either. Should be able to flip the cards though more easily than retail. Stop buying inflated wax. Buy the cards themselves and get he wax should stay priced at regular pricing. Pull the bigger cards to flip. Shouldn’t be allowed to flip off wax unless it’s old classic wax where you could pull a curry rookie or jordan. Same year wax shouldn’t be being flipped. That’s the biggest issue. Breaking is tough too as so expensive to try and hopefully hit anything. Make it more affordable to buy the wax itself. Resell cards as singles can be whatever. The issue is people can’t buy wax that’s meaningful as it’s being sold on 2nd market for crazy high prices.
