I must be hopelessly inept at reading cues going by the responses of some folks here. I don't consider Alicia to have been closed during the interview. Let's acknowledge that Lewis Howes is a master at asking questions. I have seen other interviews on his show where people are evasive and less than transparent, however this interview was pure joy. My favourite of her films is less known (Blast from the Past with Brendan Fraser). As for her alleged aged appearance........she's in her 40's and looks pretty natural with that trademark smile. Do people even consider that possibly someone may have had a poor night's sleep or a sick child to tend to? Unbelievable nit-picking here. She's living her life doing things that make a difference. She isn't prosyletising for everyone to be a vegan. Merely offering some awareness so that even those who wish to eat meat are at least more mindful. She doesn't mind at tipple either as she acknowledges and I like how she budgets her sugar calories to an occasional drink rather than mindless inhalation of rubbish like donuts or full strength coke or pepsi. Live every day.........

for all of you that are commenting that she didn't open up, i wonder if they watched the whole interview. lewis is so great and i feel like her entire body language changed by the end of the interview. she's been in the business for 25+ years and she's probably guarded for good reason - i can only imagine how many shallow interviews she's done. i think the last 10 minutes were really beautiful. (and ps - she has a 7 year old and is separated. there could be challenges in her life that she doesn't talk about for the benefit of her kid.)

It is true about vitamins. It is very hard to find quality vitamins as most of them are synthetic. In my office we use Standard Process (not sponsored). They have their own organic farm. One thing to think about is that we shouldn't be taking a supplement for something like a symptom but for a deficiency. Supplements are to supplement our food. We use muscle testing to find the correct supplement for the person.

Okay, the beginning of this interview turned me off at first. I read the comments to determine if it was worth my time and saw some pure negativity, some thoughtfully balanced, and some purely positive reactions. With a mixed bag, I decided to take another look. For those who are uncertain, here's a suggestion.... If the beginning seems a little tense and awkward but you don't want to make a snap decision.....I recommend fast forwarding to about halfway through and watching from there first. Then if you see what I see, you might be more willing to go from the beginning to see what gems can be found. (There are many!) My assessment is that it takes Alicia a bit to warm up which I can relate to as an introvert. Also, she isn't big on going deep into her own wounds (not everyone is super open and comfortable with this) but her integrity in the way she lives her life and the way she upholds her values from her products to the social consciousness with which she runs her business REALLY shine through from about 35:00 ish on. I admit I felt like she was just trying to sell products at first but I think I simply felt that because she is not the typical sales person who has learned all the tools and tricks of marketing that get us to be lulled into liking and trusting them so they can sell to us. This is her just being herself and being honest. She is clearly passionate about trying to live her best life and help others do the same in a way that worked for her. She admits uncertainty with her decisions at certain points in her which shows thoughtfulness and humility. But those are things that don't necessarily make you popular. I really recommend giving this interview a chance if you hesitated at the beginning like me.

It sounds like she is getting over a cold or flu or something. People are saying she looks aged, but guess what, people do age. She stands by her lifestyle and I think she's done this interview despite being a bit poorly which shows her integrity and professionalism . We all look rubbish if we are under the weather and by the way she doesn't look rubbish. I love her. She says in this interview that if you don't feel good you are not at your best. Anyway, what's wrong with approaching age? People really don't want their 'celebrities' to look real and have lives. Also I do think she opens up as much as possible but she looks like needing a rest for a bit. But she showed up. She's a wonderful person.

This was the year of her divorce. She had a massive amount of stress of that year, and so it's unsurprising if she looked drained. It's amazing that people can be so superficial and nasty about a kind soul who has tried so hard to do good in the world, both for human beings and for animals.

I like what she said about making the right decision 90% of the time. It's not all or nothing. That is great! Also, we do need to be more aware in general of the practices used to slaughter animals whether we are meat eaters or not. It may help us to be less wasteful and more cognizant of using meat as more of a condiment and less of a main dish. 3/4 of our plate should stem from plant foods.

Based on what? She is passionate about veganism and her brand. It is a great thing to be passionate about and this is the message she wants to deliver. That is somehow fake? There is a reason it is the first thing she brought up. It is literally THE best message to send at the moment with the current state of the planet & society. People are so insecure when it comes to talking about veganism/animal rights. Almost every video on youtube pertaining to veganism is loaded with negative responses. Great interview btw, Lewis.

I think its a little bit unrealistic to expect no one to eat meat. I think a more actionable approach is being mindful in shopping for Humane/grass fed etc. Or at least this is the first step, I cant force my kids and husband to not eat any meat or chicken anymore. But I can be really selective where I shop, I can buy organic, free range etc...Or at least I believe that is the first step, I totally agree with her heart and I think the plight of our animals today is something that really needs to be addressed!!.. But saying 'don't eat meat', is why nothing is changing!!..No one wants to see animals suffer, But we need a better alternative to "don't eat any meat" and In my mind that is a greater push towards 'humanely raised and slaughtered', there are farms and artisans who do this, But it needs to become industry standard!!

Vegans are tasty. Plants have feelings too. ;) I think it is important to recognize there is not one right way to live well. I am excited to see the recipes, and inspired to try to reduce my animal intake again. I was raised in a vegetarian household, and have struggled with autoimmune issue most of my life. Settled into a high protein diet and avoiding most grains and legumes and feel much better. I care deeply about the Earth, and love that the 'impossible burger' is out there, mindsets are shifting...finding a tasty, healthy, affordable, accessible, convenient food plan is always what I try to aim for.

I can't believe all the negativity and judgment. Eating a vegan diet is just like eating on any other diet. If you eat crap you will not be healthy! You have to eat real food from the earth and a variety of it, you do not have to eat animals to be healthy! With that said if you choose to eat animals that's your choice no judgment! I always recommend to people if they want to eat animals to find a local farm or co-op to purchase it from instead of grocery stores. Know where your food is coming from, it should not come from a factory. It's important to share information without judgment and eat as consciously as possible.
@christinahagan88506 жыл бұрын
I am conflicted. I have been "flirting" with a vegan lifestyle the past 5 years. Where I am from I have an actual farmer and his family who literally dont kill the animals but if they pass away naturally then they will sell the meat. Also, you can get fresh eggs but only if the chickens lay them as wanted. I believe that is a natural way of being. However, I am still bothered by it when I watch slaughterhouses and so forth. Not sure what to do!

her "it's too personal to share here" really annoyed me and made want to not buy whatever she was there to shill. After that comment I got bored with everything she had to say. It seemed fake. I love Lewis and love how he tried to get her to talk but she wasn't having it.

Why? She came on here ostensibly to talk about veganism, her books, and her vitamins, not to discuss her deep inner feelings and past publicly. There's nothing wrong with that, but I don't see why it would annoy anyone if someone didn't want to share certain things with strangers.
