Very clever, Goughie. Actually brilliant. Never usually buy presets and I certainly could enjoy making this set myself but this one is support-Goughie-worthy.

Is there a point in adding global grain if there are two masks created specifically to reverse that effect?
@Goughie6 күн бұрын
@@KenichiKasamatsu92 the reason I have done it, is if you make a really strong grain mask you don’t want the extremes to go to zero completely. Also the 97-100 mask I used to “bloom” the highlights

I find the grain option in Fujifilm cameras is great, very film like, authentic. But for JPEG.

I agree! The fujifilm grain settings do look good! I have a feeling they are doing something similar to this in their JPEG processing!

I think for the extreme HiGH -20 and SHADOW -20 you dont need 2 masks from 0-5 and from 95-100. You can create one mask from 5 to 95 and then invert, or? And when creating the preset, under effects > clarity must also be ticket i think...
@Goughie7 күн бұрын
There’s a lot of different approaches for sure! That’s half the fun I’ve set up the extremes as it gives you more flexibility later setting up other variants. If you do a strong grain version you don’t really want zero grain at the extremes. Also having the 95-100 gives you the bloom effect option too. You don’t need to save the clarity under effects at the end, as we changed the clarity in the masks, that one under effects is the global once which we didnt change

Nice video👍. I have been doing this since Lightroom recently allows grain adjustment in masks. Problems with actual color film grain have RGB info that Lightroom grains don't. It is perfect for b/w images though. Alternatively if you use Capture one or Camerabag apps, the grain effects are modelled properly, unlike adobe.

@qawazauri3422 I did think for a while that Adobe had given up with Lightroom! But they have added a lot in the last 12 months! Hopefully grain is on their list somewhere!

Its so frustrating that Adobe don't add these features (like all the editing options you can add to masks) to the iPad version of LR. You're not even on Classic right? I thought they would at least keep the same features on Lightroom (non classic) on PC and on iPad. I guess I have to install it on PC and make a mask there and do that whole transfer thing by importing the DNG on my iPad. This is very cool btw!
@Goughie9 күн бұрын
@@just_eirik it’s so odd ! I’ve just seen the grain option is missing! But luminance range isn’t What’s odd is when you apply the preset on mobile the grain etc still works! You just can’t edit it! 🤷♂️ Thankfully you can import presets on mobile now! You don’t have to do the DNG thing
