In my graphic design class in school when we learnt how to paint/draw different textures like glass, wood, metal, etc, they were some of my favourite lessons but I wish you had been our teacher! I always found glass the hardest to grasp but you have explained it so well in this video.

Just thinking, if you are scared to add the with paint, scanning your colored image and printing a copy would give you something to practice on. That way you could try out the technique without being afraid of ruining your original! I learned these techniques when I was in art school, I have never tried them on a stamped image. Thanks for sharing! Your cards are amazing!

Sandy, you can apply "Distress Micro Glaze" to "seal" your colored layers before applying gesso or any wet media, at least with any dye based inks, I'm not sure about alcohol inks; or any kind of protective coating like mod podge or matte medium. I'm not getting what the white is supposed to be, light reflection? Thats a cute card btw.

Thank you for showing this technique. Have a question regarding the brushes. Should brushes used for gesso be kept separate from those used for watercolor? Thank you again. Congrats on over 40k subscribers!

+Mari Nyx for a quick detail like this--if you wash them out well right away, I don't find there's a problem...but if you're doing a whole acrylic painting, I'd get a separate set of brushes.

Forget the coloring, I’m stressed out about you using gesso on your SBV brush! I don’t even like to use gouache with mine, let alone acrylic products!! You’re very brave, Sandy.
