"I am so, soo proud of you." said the sickly mother with a voice that can only be barely heard. The couple holds the mother's hands, as they watched the colour from the mother's face slowly fade away. "Thank you, mom," said the son, "for all you have done for me, you can sleep now." There was a slight pause, not of hesitation, but a pause to dig up a voice buried deep within his heart. In a tone, filled with love, muffled yet clear, the son said, "I love you, mom." *the end*

tbh it seems lax after all the rest of the effort to make it a viable nest site not to make more effort to disguise the cameras which clearly stand out as unnatural by contrast. Even a printed wood texture sticker on the camera plastic could have improved it a lot.

Wonderful footage - what a privilege to see this intimate behaviour. Thank you so much, Robert. When I was about nine, a little owl made her nest in the big horse chestnut tree next door. She appeared to be raising her lone chick on her own - we never saw the male and had no idea about number of chicks until just the one emerged. My father bought rabbit meat to help her out and left it on the roof of an outbuilding. One day the chick branched and sidled along the dividing wall between the gardens. I stared at him in wonder. The chick stared back. And then, ever so slowly, he blinked a blink such as I had never seen before. Thus began my love affair with these amazing, beautiful, clever little birds.

Little owls are some damn cool birds as well. One of the most striking videos i remember seeing was a little owl standing alone in a huge open field, fearing absolutely NOTHING. The human filming it came up to it, no reaction. PETTED IT for about 30 seconds with only minor reaction from the little owl, until it finally said "okay, enough of this. You're to big and unafraid to be prey, you're not attacking me so you're not a predator, you are grooming me like family, but you are not little owl! okay, enough of this. I'm out." It was the cutest damn thing for a little ball of fluff to be so unafraid, and I loved them ever since.
