ngl, some of the research for this one was poor. 54/40 is a common chainring size now with an 11/34 cassette as larger chainrings are more efficient than smaller ones when guiding the chain around the curves in the drivetrain. The seatpost isn't a Colnago one with a "drilled hole", they've bought in Darimo seatposts for their star riders, Tadej's also riding one, they're just unbranded. Beautiful bike however, my favourite in the peloton currently for sure.

Small correction: the brake rotors aren't floating. They're joined by rivet. Floating rotors are where the braking surface isn't connected at all to the inner.

On Adam Yates' bike, the mechanics did not drill a hole in the seatpost. That is a Darimo seatpost. That's just how they're made.. in the name of weight savings.

We're reliably informed that the seatposts that Yates and Pogacar are using come from lightweight specialists Darimo. Would you go with an aftermarket seatpost to save a few grams? Let us know in the comments below!

This is amazing. Who can I give £15k (of the banks money - I'll end up paying them £20k at least) just so I can ride a bike 500g heavier than my 10 year old bike that I bought for less than £3k?

@@ryanterence471 I been looking at Trek Emonda ALR (yes aluminium) as want aero bike but still round seatpost, looks like mine be 7.4-7.6kg before bottle cage (all power meter stuff and computer on bike) and that is with rockshox axs dropper, be 417g lighter with normal seatpost also just £5-6k from looks I want research on aero between bottles and camelpak inside of jersey, I'm thinking to use camelpak and avoid bottles for like anything where just 2L is needed or so

I'm guessing $900 for the bar/stem. I'd be getting one if they make it in a 150mm -12 degree but I doubt they'll make it. Would love to support them as a local business for me

150mm!!!??? I don't think you'll be far off
@veganpotterthevegan Жыл бұрын
@roadcc yes but the -12degree is a bigger issue. I can live with a 140 but a -7 degree won't cut it. Few integrated bars are available in over 130mm none outside of Aliexpress are -12degrees but that maxes out at 120mm

When you're fast, weight matters less. Also, this probably isn't going to be the wheelset he runs for the hardest stages with mountain top finishes.

@@veganpotterthevegan physics says that is not like that when climbing, and what you say is true only starting from 40km/h. Anyway it is possible to have a perfectly aero bike under 7 kg, bianchi xr4 was, colnago v3rs rim brake was, pinarello f rim was. They are riding slower and heavier bike for market reasons, when an aero rim brake bike is still a more rational solution.
@veganpotterthevegan Жыл бұрын
@lorenzodestefano4043 nope, drag is very important far below 40kph. Plus, in everything but an uphill TT, these bikes have to be efficient on the flats and fast on descents. *Aero rim brake bikes just aren't faster anymore. The UCI tube profile changes ensured that. Companies could make faster rim brake bikes to meet those new tube shape allowances but they won't because disc brakes are simply better. Plus disc brake wheels are faster due to having more freedom with rim shapes
