Here is the real secret to goal scoring: An NHL goaltender takes approximately 1/2 a second to 1 second to reposition himself. If you do not get a shot off within a half a second, you are not going to score on an NHL goaltender. Mike Bossy was the master. He got off the quickest one-timers I've ever seen and scored 50-60 goals a year.

The game is much slower to the great goal scorers. They never panic. Its no different than the great QBs in football. To some the game is moving at 100 mph and they panic, to the good QBs the game is much slower and they can anticipate and react differently.

I simplify it so people can understand, the next level is to use the same concept when doing cutback moves and manipulating penalty kill formations. It is a simple way to frame reading coverages so you can make no look passes easier.
