Excellent tips. I'm new to running and started a 20 week training block for a half marathon . I'm putting in the work and got my mileage up to 66 miles per week. 5 weeks until my race and I'm ready to roll. Will be sure to implement these tips 🫡

Good advice. Never thought of taking additional caffeine during my longer races. I’ll give that a try next month.

Do you have a suggestion of what type of caffeine to carry for mid marathon?

A caffeinated gel is likely your best option. There are many out there so just choose one you've tried before and like!

Did I miss something? But, no mention of a good night of sleep... which trumps most everything.

Recieved wisdom is to make sure to have good sleep two nights before the race. The night before the race you can definitely sleep like shit and still race fast.

@@leocossham Yes. This video is also about what you can do to "prime" your body for a max performance. Sleep isn't priming so I left it out.

Kipchoge slept 9PM-2AM before the INEOS challenge, due to anxiety. Bad sleep the night before won't necessarily ruin everything, if you overslept a couple of days before.

@@leocossham Good point. I was going to say most people recommend you get a good week of sleep heading into the race because who knows how you'll sleep the night before!
