The Sega Game Gear Won't Power On (recapping the power board)

The Sega Game Gear won't power on, it's a because of bad caps on the power supply board. I wish I had replaced those caps when did the original recap.

I've done all the cap's on mine then done the screen mod, takes it to another level well worth it, got mine from Ali express. Also saves on battery.

I'm considering the screen mod, not because of the battery life but because the display quality is really not good on the Game Gear. One part of me wants to do it because I want a nicer display and the other part says I should leave it as it is because if I change it then it's no longer original and in keeping with how the game gear really was to play.

@@DavePoo2The screen had gone in mine so no choice but if you ever do the screen mod RetroSix have some great mods for the game gear and really easy to fit, I'm thinking of doing another one using all their kit.

How did you manage to get that black piece of thin plastic that goes over the power terminals back on? The adhesive on mine is so old, that it wont go back on and stay in place, wo I just put gorilla tape on the back of it to hold it down

I don't remember exactly, but I think it was still very sticky and it just stuck back down without any effort. Looks like I just got lucky there.

If the caps get really bad, it might not power up at all.

Check voltages, clock signal and reset signal..
