"a fender telecaster is a much more dangerous weapon than an AK47, its got better penetration, it's a killer. and it's got better communication. you see, the trouble with an AK47, is there all dead. but if you've got s fender telecaster, and you play Peggy Sue like Buddy Holly did, how many people you going to get with that? and they're going to live, and it's going to live forever. i guess thats what i like about rock and roll..." - Alex Harvey 1975

This brings tears to my eyes. I spent every penny I had on buying the albums and going to see Alex and the band in concert. I worshipped him like a god. Zal is still touring in the UK (without the makeup) and I don't live in the UK any more but I get regular updates from a girlfriend who knows him well.

I'm speechless every time I watch this video. According to Google, this is the video I have watched the most, ever. I have no idea how this film got made, meaning Wha? Wha? And then bagpipes? The lyric helps me understand why they wrote this song, but the rest is beyond my understanding. Zal's guitar break is what I heard first on a radio a long time ago, and it's what keeps me coming back to hear it again. McMillan, tnx for letting me hear and see this for over decade. Well done.

Love this! I saw them play it live in Bern, Switzerland in 1974, when I was aged 20. They were supporting Deep Purple and were superb. To add to the experience, my friends and I dropped what turned out to be my final LSD trip. One thing that sticks in my mind that night was the local motorcycle gang, Broncos, who seemed to be everywhere and carried white whips. Can't recall any trouble occurring though. A great night at a great time of my life. Thanks for posting.

They only ever toured once maybe twice in the US. I saw then on a late night US show called "In Concert" early 70s and I was hooked forever. I am told they also opened for jethro Tull on a tour that I missed, but once I had heard them i began turning as many people on to their music as I could through radio and just word of mouth and I am in Canada and used to play this on my radio show in the late 70s as much as possible, and learned of Alex passing from the editor - Greg Quill - of a big music magazine I had just begun writing for called Music Express, in Feb. 82
