This was the best tutorial I've ever seen on sergers. I have a serger but have never used it. I will watch this again and go along with the training and try it on my serger. Thank you so much Margaret.

You'll love your serger once you get used to using it. By now, you probably know that. I have made many crib sheets for my grandbabies and others. They make wonderful shower gifts. Also, I have used my serger to completely make baby onesies, then adding snaps. (a onesie has short sleeves, no legs and a snap crotch.) I've noticed that so many people call those one piece PJs with the feet in them ONESIES. Not so. A onesie is like a t-shirt that has a snap crotch. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. :-)

I am a first time user of the newer better serger machines. I used the JUKI years ago. I took a class on my new machine but I was still left with lots of questions. The explanation of the purpose of the dials the needles and the elastic applicator foot was my AHA! 💡moment. I am 76 and loving it. Looking forward to more of the serger tutorials. Margret has a very special way to explain things regarding the serger.

Hi Kathy, I just happened upon your video and I have to tell you how excited I was to watch it because I have had a serger for , Lord, decades, and I have not used it because I did not buy mine from a place like JoAnn's so that I would get lessons on it. I bought mine from Walmart's and when I asked the people at JoAnn's if I could come to their classes, I was told no, the classes were only for JoAnn's customers that buy their sergers from them. So, consequently, mine has sat in a case on a sewing table for at least 20 years. I will look forward to further lessons so I can learn how to use it. Thank you Margaret & Kathy!

I agree with the other posters...this is the best video I've seen. I have a Brother serger that I bought from a lady in 2005 or 2006. Haven't used it much because the manual isn't very clear. As one poster asked, though, how do you know what tension to use on the elastic pressure foot? BTW: Thank you sooooooo much for sharing.

Thank you so much for this video. Totally took away the fear factor of using the elastic foot. I have so one to make a crib sheet for but totally worth making one to donate just to use the foot and use my beautiful ovation. I have one question though, how do I know how tight to adjust the foot? Did you test it and come up with the stretch factor

I have watched the video twice, and have an email into my dealer for this foot for one of my sergers! I have one question--I never heard what yardage of the elastic was necessary for the crib sheet??? Does one pre-cut package of the 3/8" Swimwear Cotton Elastic enough for one or more crib sheets? Also--I need to re-do the elastic on a set of my king sheets, so hopefully the same techniques will work. Great Video!

Hello my mattress is 53 x 28 with 5 inch depth on the side. Do I add another 1" of fabric on both sides when cutting fabric so it would be 46 x 71 & Is it still the 9 inch drop or do I increase that to 10 " dtop now because my mattress is bigger? I haven't found any cloth fabric that measures 45 or 46 inches. They're all 44 inches in width when you buy cotton Quilting or Calico fabric at the fabric store which means I need to sew more pieces on them to make them longer. Please help

I've tried this method. It looks nice until it's placed on a mattress, the elastic is like "granny panties". For crib sheets to fit correctly, you need about two yards of elastic. How do you adjust the elasticize foot pressure to apply exactly 2 yards f fabric? The answer is, you can't.
