I have made dozens of crib sheets for my grandkids and for gifts. I find that sewing a channel and threading the elastic through works more easily for me.

I just searched for a video showing how to make a cover for a crib mattress and found yours. Wow! Thanks so much. I hadn't planned on putting an elastic under mine but when I saw how easy it looked, I took a trip to the dollar store and bought a 10 foot 1/4 inch elastic and it was the perfect length for two covers. I have a mini crib (38 in x 24 in) so it was the perfect length. They look fantastic. Thanks so much for posting this video (2 years ago but still working well).

I have two grandbabies and lots of friends having babies, can't wait to make these for them with my huge stash! I was also about to look for the measurement calculation for a changing table pad and you so wonderfully provided that too. You're an excellent instructor, I hope to see a lot more tutorials by you, thank you so much, great job!

I watched 3 of your tutorials today and I have to say that you are a really good teacher! So easy to understand! You did mention you are going to write the formula for any size sheet in the description and I don't see it. I would love to make my own set of sheets as it's so difficult to find all cotton sheets without paying an arm and a leg for them! Keep up the good work and welcome to MSQC! P.S. Don't pay attention to the haters! If you don't have something nice to say then just keep it to yourself! You have the option of not watching and you can see from the beginning it's not Jenny doing the tutorial and it says it's for kids items! Whew! Some people!!!

Thank you, Jean! It doesn't look like that got added to the description, but if you watch the video at about the 16 minute mark to the end, I share the math for how to figure it out. I want to use some extra wide backing fabric to make my own sheets too!

This is great but I think I might prefer a fabric casing so the elastic can be replaced easily.

That's definitely doable and another great way to make them. With my three boys, the sheets wear out before the elastic! It just gives me an excuse to make new cute sheets!

I have always enjoyed the MSQC for every project !! Please help me with my problem!! I am making fitted sheets for an oval shaped mattress/pad. It measures 16"x 31" X 1/2" deep. How many inches should I add to ensure the sheet remains underneath the pad & how many inches would be the "corner" cutout I hope you can help me. Thanks.

Hi, you explain really well. I prewashed the fabric ( cotton ) , take the selvages off and now have a 41 - inch wide piece of fabric What should I do? Sew some cotton all around the perimeter to make it 44 inches wide? 🌸🌺

Since fabric shrinks quite a bit when you wash it have the fabric measurements got shrinkage factored in? I prewash everything due to allergies so what measurements should I use?

So if i wanted to make my own sheets with quilt shop quality cotton fabric, what would the thread count be? Im wondering if they would hold up over time enough to justify the cost

Guess I am just being dense..you said measure and add 3 times the height...mine is a pack and play so 1 inch height.. so 37 length plus 3 x 1 for height is 40...so when I take the drop of 2 inches off when putting it on and sew the elastic in I don't have anything to tuck under....do I...? I know I am being dense, but don't want to waste this fabric. This is very hard to explain....sorry for the bother! Thanks for the video..I enjoyed it.

Why an 8" square cut out on the corners? How did you come up with that measurement? I can a mini crib or side sleeper and is only 2 or 3 inches thick. What size square would I need to cut out?
@galecrowe395
@galecrowe395 Жыл бұрын
I believe she did 8 inches square bc her mattress must be 8 inches in height/thickness. Yours would be 3 inches square for the three inch thick pad.
