@poveyno1 The GT 220 has some serious disadvantage when compared to a 5850,so is the X2 250 compared to a Core i7, but you can always download the demo (links in description) and give it a test drive! ;)

@iker990 The game is about building up your empire as fast as you can to gain special quests and kicking your enemies butt. You do have opponents that are doing the same as you. In order to attack your enemy, you 1st need to capture new base villages between each of your opponents. To accomplish this, you require either using your army or using bribes.

Assasins Creed is boring as hell now... Totally minced that series. Settlers 7 is LITERALLY my favourite game ever made. It was Deep, it STILL looks great even in 2017... Best game ever across all consoles and PC in my opinion.

@Altairsfriend Yes there are two more ways to record games. The cheaper one, which I use, is with a camera. You have no performance hit that way, but you cannot get the same quality.

@Raffix394 Again, at which 3dmark are you referring to? 3dmark 06 sucks balls when it comes to gpu scaling. It is very old. 3dmark Vantage on the other hand, shows great performance gain. If it doesn't then there's some serious problem with the tested system. I would suggest you watch my "Benchmark Compilation - Single ATI 5850 vs Crossfire ATI 5850" video and follow the link in the description to see how well crossfire scales! ;)

@MrNick6699 I think it wil be, but you probably won't be able to play on very high settings. What type of monitor do you use? Because I would recommend an HD5670 instead of a GT 220. The HD5670 is a faster gpu, and thus will be able to give a higher framerate. It also had DX11-support. It's about 20 EUR more, but very much worth it. You will pay something like 60-70 EUR. I wouldn't recommend any of these cards for monitors of 22" or higher, because they would perform very poorly.

I used to do exactly the same thing! Most of my Friday nights were spent playing and then I'd leave it run when I went to bed. I forget what it was but I'd have my soldiers swap (ranked at HQ to barracks). My roads were always so congested that it would take all night :-). S1 + S2 were such good times. I never liked it when they changed the combat to a more RTS style.in the later releases. Tempted to give Settlers 7 a go as I never even knew about it.

I think there is a good difference with the last 2 or 3 settlers releases. They seem to have returned to the elements that I once loved as a kid; extensive economy building and funny but tactical military building.

@JustOneMoreBlockUK I would go for a 5570 low profile. It would be like five time faster than the HD2000. You would still need to pay very close attention to your settings though. Wait a minute! Isnt' the i5-2530 a mobile processor? Is this a laptop we are talking about?

True maybe it needs a stay invisible option. And its good a very light hearted easy to follow strategy. Not the tops in tactics nor city building but it has a warm feeling to it. I recommend the campaign mode, it introduces the basics well and the story is good and teaches stuff step by step. I am not a fan of campaigns but it would really take long to learn how to play well by doing skirmish maps. The game has different concepts to those used in your standard strategies.

@lol112xx I think the Age of Empires series, the Anno games and the Settlers series are three different kind of strategy games. While in AoE you have the opportunity both researching technologies and building the economy, you have direct control over the units. In Settlers the most enhanced mechanism is the management of production chains and the distribution of goods, meanwhile you research and send merhant expeditions. You don't have direct control over your forces in combat.

@allvetarnfow The battle system in 7 is simplistic. Gather up your troops (who all go where the general goes anyway) and throw them at the enemy. If you have more troops you win, other than pikemen, they'll loose even if they re overwhelming forces against things like musketeers. It's a very simple system, with little tactics. You can choose a general, each has an ability, but beyond that, little tactics are even needed.

Hey can I ask one or two questions, I'm always getting disconnected during the last 2hrs of the demo download. Are these snowy mountains renered 3d objects or just plain pictures? Could you buildt everywhere (I don't see borderlines)? Can one destroy paths? And are there catapults?

@Raffix394 I've been following PC Graphics chips development since the S3 Virge. I have to know and understand quite a few things, thank you. I don't really need lessons of what microstuttering is. I will say again, watch my crossfire videos and tell me on which of them do you see microstuttering. Well you don't and the reason is that 5850s at crossfire do no often keep the framerate at 30fps. It is way higher than that.

I noticed the symbols for where you can hunt or fish are shown permanently here. Is there an option to turn that on/off? Since those symbols only pop up for me when i dont move the screen or scroll and are therefore sometimes difficult to spot.

@Vire70 Well money is an issue to an extent... eg the £550 for a 6990 is too much but I can just about push to £400 for a 580. But if the difference between a 570 and 580 isn't overly noticeable then I'll go for the 570 as it's around £280-£300 so may aswel save some money and put it towards a better monitor or something?

@Vire70 Yeah I did look at the 6950-70 cards but I hear alot about the driver issues plus many reviewers have said the 570-580 outperform these cards so that'll probably be the route I take. I'm no fanboy so I've purely looked at the 2 arguments. I've heard the 6990 is VERY loud but maybe this will be solved with better coolers? Plus like I said I'd need a new case to house one as my case will take little over 10.5"

@later42 edit: I misstyped I didn't mean 5750 and 5730 but of course 5850 and 5830* besides having two graphic cards in crosfire mode or in my case before having 2 dualcore graphic cards in crosfire mode doesn't bring double performance, having one card running I had 16K 3d mark points having both running I had 18K, so it isn't that significant. But I might just try out having my 5870 combined with a GTX 480 ^^ (It's possible with an MSI Big bang Fuzion mainboard but I'll wait for benchmarks^^)

@toutagamon Bu if I get a second card I might aswell swap my mainboard aswell, I was thinking of an GTX 480 combined with my ATI 5870 (possible with msi big bang fuzion mainboards) I know that this configuartion will be troublesome for quite a few games due to Nvidia and ATI don't give official driver support, but if there's gonna be a good crysis 2 support it's bought. otherwise I'll just do it like you did, or buy a 5870 X2 (name officialy doesn't exist refering to overclocked 5970 like Ares)

@later42 @later42 It's all a budged question, you can go up high with the price as much as you want btw here in gemrany the price difference between a 5750 and a 5730 is 50€ , and having two HD5870 in crossfire mode defnetly isn't the best thing to do wanting to have the best FPS/€ configuration, it might be one of the fastest but not cheapest, besides having crossfire or SLI always brings in micro shutters reducing the felt fps due to having irregular framerates (had two hd 3870X2s before)

@later42 always depends on the retailer, and in the country you're in (taxes), I for my self have a HD5870, but I'm not a casual player. and a HD5830 for a game like settlers 7 is more than enogh you don't need high FPS for this game. and for the real enthusias the Nvidia GTX 480 was just indroduced (prices will be around 500€)
