Fun fact: at a European brony convention (GalaCon 2014), M.A. Larson himself was once an invited guest and he held a panel about episode writing. There he told us, that his original vision for season 3 finale "Magical Mystery Cure" was that Twilight would be sent the Pandora's Box (instead of Starswirl's journal), which would accidentally get opened releasing all evils into Equestria. Then she and her friends would somehow contain it all, earning her alicornhood in the process.

@@Pseudowolf ummm, the seven deadly sins is more of a Christian thing. The Box of Pandora is a Greek myth and has nothing to do with it. I don't even think we have a list of all the "evils" (or "curses") that were contained in the box. Agrol had just mixed things up a little here.

And yet this isnt your heroic "huh, this will not work on me!" turn head away, she cant break eye contact but managed to use magic to close source of mental danger. Thats cool. (And overall this episode is full of fun magic vs magic conflicts with tactical decisions, like teleport-dodge from Pride's telekinesis grip)

Nope. The "exemplars" ( highest, purest forms ) of each one of the sins were locked. It would be similar to trapping the current "Spirits of the Elements of Harmony" by extracting the cutiemarks & memories of the Mane Six, placing the first in Glass Jars & keeping the others in Memory Books [both things Starlight Glimmer has done in the past]. -> Just like how the "green mist" of the _Inspiration Manifestation_ book infused Rarity with power & obsession (or the "red mist" of _Righteous Rage_ of Starlight possessed 3 ponies), the cutiemarks & memories would do something similar to other ponies.
