Regarding the locusts. We see this type of writing in the book of Joel

@@MarkNorthAveChurch Revelation 1:11 (KJV) Saying, I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last: and, What thou seest, write in a book, and send [it] unto the seven churches which are in Asia; unto Ephesus, and unto Smyrna, and unto Pergamos, and unto Thyatira, and unto Sardis, and unto Philadelphia, and unto Laodicea. It does not say right in a book what you think, it says write in a book what you see, none of the things written originated with John, they came directly from the revelation given to him from Jesus

12:22 exactly. God says in Ezekiel 8.18 "Then I will act in wrath. My eye will not spare, nor will I have pity" this is CLEARLY not just referring to the destruction of Jerusalem, but has a near and far future application both to the events of 70ad and the end of the world. Notice God says, "Then" specifically denoting the timing of His wrath on both occasions. This strongly supports the pre wrath view. So many pre trib and post trib scholars do not truly understand the tenants of the pre wrath position when they argue against it, in my opinion.

@@jamesenewold8864 That is why it says at the last trumpet for the trumpet will sound and the dead will be raised. Wrath is not poured out until the bowls.

I found something interesting about Rev 8:13. I was confused when I saw so many translations (more than 30 to 3) that translate the word 'aggelos' as 'eagle'. After looking into it, it seems earlier manuscripts showed the word as aetos, which is properly translated as eagle. Now when you said vulture, that got me thinking, too, as it does seem to fit with the great feast of the Lord as described in Rev 19:17. After looking into this, the word aetos is used in the Bible 5 times. Luke 17:37 Matt 24:28 Rev 4:7 Rev 8:13 (if in fact that is the correct word) and Rev 12:14. Now for me it is tough to imagine Rev 12:15 describing the woman being given the wings of a vulture, but letting the text read itself, okay. But Rev 4:7 describes the fourth beast about the throne using this word aetos. The beasts about the throne are Cherubim in their own right - they must be angelic beings - so it brings the whole discussion full circle and actually lends a lot of credence to why the writers of the KJV might have gotten it right after all in translating the word as angel and would also explain why there are some manuscripts that have the word aetos and some that have aggelos. Whatever it is, whether eagle or vulture or angel, it is definitely in the role of messenger in Rev 8:13. God bless and thanks again for sharing these studies on line - they are invigorating blessings!

If you can’t fully symbolize… don’t symbolize at all. You must read scripture literally unless the SCRIPTURE interprets itself. Origen, Agustin and Calvin at its worst

Thanks for engaging with our teaching, even if you disagree! I'd like to ask an interpretative question to get your perspective and approach to Revelation. When you say "don't symbolize at all," do you mean you don't think there are any symbols in Revelation?
@Scatteringseeds
@Scatteringseeds Ай бұрын
@@MarkNorthAveChurch Thanks for responding Mark, I am not saying that there are not symbolic things in the revelations for example, Jesus standing in the midst of the candlesticks, and the seven stars are symbolic, but the scriptures tell you what they are, they interpret themselves and are not private interpretations using natural wisdom.

@@MarkNorthAveChurch Another thing, when you approach the book as being totally symbolic, you come in with presuppositions that there can be nothing literal in the book so you have to automatically look for an alternate meaning other than the clear literal view . For instance, the locusts with tails like scorpions. The revelation or any of the other books do not clearly define what that would be so it needs to be taken literally since these creatures come from the bottomless pit. They are like nothing that has been seen before so we take that literally!

I don't get your reasoning. To say that if there is no previous Biblical symbolism pointing to something literal therefore you must take it literally denies the truth of the New Testament. They thought in total literal fulfilments. I mean, Christ didn't fulfil the literal image they had in their minds based on thousands of years of Scripture which spoke in those terms (in their minds). They expected a military leader who was going to restore a literal nation of Israel not only to their former state, but to rule all nations on earth, right then-- at his first coming. They had no concept of a second coming or a non-literal fulfilment of this promise. So....maybe you are wrong like the Pharisees were? Just maybe?
