I love this. I see so many players that use the same 8 gems for everything, for the obvious reason that it costs more to invest into others. But then you're either trying to use the same 8 universal gems that are not optimized for any 1 specific build, or only focusing on 1 area of the game. Might have great gems for pvp but then suck at farming, for instance. I already do this exact thing, just never really put it into "packages", and on top of just having all these different gems, I have many others ranked up as well purely for resonance bonuses inside my main 8. It's a great feeling when I want to try out new builds and already have a rank5-10 of something I never really used but would work great with new essences. I do question your choice of igneous scorn and volatility shard though. My main gripe with these 2 is the limit of only triggering once every 6 seconds. Don't get me wrong, their explosion dmg is great and does indeed kill a whole pack of mobs...when it happens...but that's the problem. I definitely prefer the more constant dmg boosts like grim rhythm, Fervent Fang, and Vipers bite+pain clasp combo. Fervent Fang secondary effect is a flat dmg boost on elites and bosses too, on top of the dmg stacking feature so it still has some use in like overworld farming where mobs die in a couple hits. Even abiding curse, which surprisingly didn't make your list at all, is a great gem for any build. Can trigger on each target, gives dmg boost, and a loss of control effect with the impaired movement. I always have "increased dmg to enemies suffering loss control" as a reforge stat on all 8 pieces of gear, so even though abiding curse's own secondary dmg boost effect isn't much, the slow effect paired with this reforge property is a bigger dmg boost than any other gem in the game. As for the rank suggestions, I tell everyone shoot for rank5+ on all gems first for the awakening bonus, then bring all 1stars to 10, then all 2 stars to 10, then crunch them down for gem power late in the game as you start ranking up more 5 stars. As someone else mentioned before, at least get rank3 on all gems for the secondary effect. Seeping bile is a great DoT gem, but that secondary slow effect is another loss of control that pairs well with the reforge property. Using it at just rank2 feels like such a waste of potential.

Superb input! I really love scorn and volatility shard if paired together in OW. They will often cycle very well where shard kills one pack and scorn the next. If any of them is not ready the dots will trigger it a bit later 🙏 Have u tried running them together in a setup like showcased here? Sometimes the pack dont die instantly but u can just keep running and they will die eventually. (Yellow mobs and side quest bosses might have to be attacked for an extra second or two depending on your dmg output.) Your gem suggestions are really nice and thats the reason I made five gems in each package. That means we have room to be versatile with the other 3 gems where we can either put in tech gems, defensive gems or offensive gems. These packages has worked very well for me but feel free to switch out anything that works best for you :D Thanks for your contribution and have an awesome day!

It's great to see someone else appreciating the Abiding Curse gem! I feel it's really underrated. I find it particularly useful in Castle Defence for slowing the mobs. I also use it in BG to try and make things a bit easier for the rest of the team.

@Auroth_DI I haven't even tried it honestly. Lol. Even if you could get it to work out perfectly where 1 triggers, then the other 3 seconds after, there's always going to be a mob pack or 2 in-between gem procs. Even void spark to that end has downtime. I much prefer a build/gems that are active all the time or can effect every target. Best farming builds are that of max movement speed while still having enough damage to kill everything instantly.

I am always in an incessant search for Demon Hunter builds & this may be one of the most comprehensive list I have seen. Thank you, Auroth. I am still trying out different builds but I am still a bit confused which legendary gems I need for particular builds since I have invested money on some of my leggos & it is quite difficult to replace them.

I salute you Auroth. Informative video as always, having vic as a sponsor gave me a smile :). With a scientific backround I studdied the gems and reaced similar conclusions, but still gained new insights from your studies. The one thing that sowhat turns some of this on its head for a Crusader hwo loves his big thick shields is the Torrential Refrain essense. The limited info from the game simply states that "Condemn immediately triggers all continual damage on the targets it hits, causing them to take the remaining damage instantly." this in effect it should make the Farming build a DPS build at least in part and for at least some of the time. The exact details (like timing) of how this essense interacts with gems and other gear and skills are so far at least to me a bit fussy. Is this anything you have done any reasearch around?

Thanks for the reply. Yes I´ve of course I watched them many times :) and used them and modified them around what items and gems I have. I´ve tried change to fist of heaven to elecrify burning victims and have sacret fire deal 47% more damage to schocked wictims. But what I have not been able to definitely discerned the exact details of how torrential interacts with timing, like does it's effect trigger just when condemn is initialized in case it would actually be beneficial to have condemn duration as short as possible, or does it work in a way that as long as condemn is active, each dot will do its damage instatly until the dot duration is over and when its ready again it will do its "future potential dot" dot again instantly? what happens if condemns duration expires before the otherwise dot duration would have run out and condemn is initialized again, does the allready used dot duration "carry over" to the next condemn inisitalization so condemn so torrential would instantly applay the otherwise remainin duration of the dot or would torrential do nothing to that dot (a wasted dot) or would it trigger the dot again while condem is active as soon as the dot duration refreshes? Then another ambiguity is if a dot effect both does damge over time and simultaneously do some cc like slow or blind. when Torrential kicks in, the cont. dmg is of course applied insantly, but does the cc effect still run it´s course? or does the instantantious application stop the cc? :) And should you use pain clasp with torrential as pain clasp works on an enemy suffering from a dot but they dont suffer from dot as the dot is applied instantly? Sorry for many questions, but I gather you being as inqusitive as I, then hopefully these ponderings might contain some yet to be discovered overall effect of a complex mixture of components.

Love the video and the vision for the gem explainers. It definitely made me laugh. I noticed that you sometimes have your gems socketed in resonance slots (depending on the build). I had come to similar conclusions as you, but was curious- Do resonant gems count the rank of the gem itself (and just ignore their primary resonance) Or do they grant a downgraded (lvl1) gem power? Haven't tested too much, but figured I'd ask someone who has. Thanks for the great content!

@@Auroth_DI Oh I know that! I was just wondering if you get the powers- for context: I wouldn't actively use lightning core (It's fine, but much better things out there). When I have it as a reso gem for one of my 5s gems (Seeping Bile/Bottled Hope/ BSJ)... I do get the gem power of lightning core. Which is undocumented in the tooltips.

Whats your opinion on power and command in the dps setup. Correct me if im wrong Since alot of classes use skills that empower the primary attack or work in conjunction while you use primary attacks shouldn’t we be getting the complete 24% damage increase at all times regardless of the 9 second switch.

Bleak augry boost my speed up from 30 percent, got bsj and runes once I activate wraith my noticable speed is 70 percent and it DEFINITELY shows , and all the beneficial effects gear I have i have 100 percent (99) percent uptime cause once it allows to me to hit again there's a millisecond of a pause .

Also, 70% is the cap ... Added something else that says boosts 30 percent and my speed increase doesn't go above 70 ...
