I received this as a gift, and the whiskey is well rounded. Sweet and fruity at the start, complex middle, and warms you without mugging you on the finish. Bottle looks great in the bar!

I could believe that at cask strength, this would take on a lot more complexity and character... especially being sherry cask aged. Sounds like a nice step up from your old baseline blendeds. Thanks for this Matt!

Between the two, I'd say the Sexton. Some of the other tyrconnel whiskeys are lovely, but I think the sexton beats the regular tyrconnel

I used it to make a blend for extra aging in a 2 liter new oak cask. (Thanks for that episode) and found it did a lot to the final product.

I was at an event with Alex Thomas (the blender) and when asked aboht a CS version, or alternative bottles in the lineup, she said "watch this space..." so we might be getting something soon!

Wow! That's a great deal, considering this is a sherry matured single malt, so either this is great value or the Jameson is overpriced! (although I think sometimes Jameson is overpriced by stores based on brand recognition)

Maybe I don’t have a refined enough pallet. I drink Pendleton, crow, or pike creek almost everyday and I got a bottle of this and it’s sat for years cause I can’t handle the taste

Ah, I don't go in for that whole "refined palate" thing. You like what you like and that's all there is to it! Granted, preferences do evolve over time, so maybe more experience with sherry finishes would mean you could enjoy this more (as it was entirely aged in sherry casks). Or maybe you never will, and that's alright too, as it will let you know what you don't like, so you can focus on what you DO like!

It is such a good looking bottle but just uninteresting. Only have it on bar for guests. Not a Bushmills fan and think Bushmills only starts being good at their 16 year. Much rather have the Knappogue Castle 12 or Irishman 12 or Irishman Founder’s Reserve.

The bottle is also hard to pour from! I think this is nicer than some of the lower end bushmills, maybe from the sherry aging. I'm also always disappointed that basically all the bushmills releases are down at 40%! And yeah, Irishman FR (or the Harvest as they call it now) is a lovely drop.
