It's fascinating how attitudes change, isn't it? What was once the realm of horrifying science fiction (transplants) is now not only relatively commonplace, but almost universally seen as a good thing.

Is that Alan Reed (voice of Fred Flintstone) as the scientist Gondo? Sounds like him, and he was active in radio at this time.

And without Batman, we'd never have The Joker. And without The Joker, no Harley Quinn. No Harley Quinn, no Kite Man. And, thus we come full circle for without Kite Man there'd be no bar operating in the Shadow of The Legion of Doom.

thanks for uploading these. is Shiwan Khan a villain of the radio series? if so what episodes does he appear?
@mrsenchilada776 Жыл бұрын
I don't believe Shiwan Khan was in the radio show unless it was in some of the later episodes I haven't heard yet (don't like Bret Morrison). Shiwan Khan was introduced in the Shadow Magazine in 1939, though.

@bloodgrss Жыл бұрын
Actually, it was! Though the regular anthracite was black, it burned with a purer blue flame than other less dense forms of coal. Hence the nickname; and the Blue Coal Company, who sponsored The Shadow, actually sprayed the coal with a blue dye to emphasize their products qualities and brand.

*"My travels to the Orient"* is used by three different characters to describe the origins of their occult and mystic knowledge. How did this get to become a set phrase that the audience would just accept it?
@spasegeek921417 күн бұрын
Lololol oh oh boy you are in a ride of a life when you find out about Golden age comics. 100s of people got super powers from Asia or have magic artifacts from Asia or learned yogic secrets in Asia. It was a serious trend ..
@BenInSeattle14 күн бұрын
@@spasegeek9214 Okay, now I'm very curious how this originated. Is "Dr. Strange" from the Golden Age? His origin story certainly fits "my travels to the Orient". Did this trope come from comic books or were comic books just very enthusiastic about using a belief that already existed?

Yes, in fact a character who ran alongside the Shadow was Doc Savage one of the two characters who inspired Superman. Actually the Shadow was one of the inspirations for Batman there are a lot of interesting pulp characters that most people don't know about nowadays.

The whole blue coal ad is full of nonsense, because "burning evenly" is NOT a function of the coal but rather the surroundings/conditions of/inside the oven.

SCIENCE is done by: 1. making a CLAIM 2. PROVING the claim ... through a) repeatable experiments, b) statistics (that are honest) and/or c) logical chains of arguments 3. followed by ALLOWING THIS TO BE CRITICISED to "find flaws" P.S.: Feelings cant be proven and are thus NOT basis of any scientific evidence and if you DONT ALLOW criticism of your claims, you arent scientific either!
