Excellent story. I didn't know that London also took to science fiction.

Oh yeah, he did quite a bit. The Scarlet Plague, Iron Heel, Before Adam, Goliah. All available on Librivox.org. They are all good!

Definitely a product of it's time, but still, as a white man, I was offended by some of the language and the use of stereotype, particularly in the story about the boxing match. Unfortunate. At the same time I noticed some parallels to modern optics concerning the attempt to formulate a shade of black that would be invisible. I see that someone has already referred to "Vantablack" and Anish Kapoor. Very interesting. As always, what goes around comes around. Thanks.

How silly to be offended at a description of a man when the subject is about the absorption of light . I’d say you’re over sensitive .

Haven't played this yet- Wondering what the context is (beyond when it was written). I'll be paying special attention.

Bruh..... They literally took a black coat and put it on a black man and were like, "yup! Invisibility descovered!" Ugh.... 😔 The language is some of these older books can be hard to listen to but this one was deffinately up there on the list.... Didn't age well.
