Amazing podcast, as always! Great to have Autumn back! Taylor was such a presence in season 4, evolved as a character, a main character. I loved the story arcs and journeys she went on. And, I loved Ryan and Taylor together! I will say, to respond to one of the voicemails....I never saw Taylor as a villain---I didn't always like her character, but once they got past the weird/creepy Dean Hess affair story line, I enjoyed having her time on screen. I felt her loneliness, and wanting to be accepted, apart of a group, anything. And, I love that Seth and Summer were the first ones to include her, and call her their friend.

Season 4 will always be my favorite season. Maybe its because i was older when i watched it and didn't care the HS drama, but Autumn was just awesome as Taylor and I do think Rachel and Melinda had character growing arcs. of course Melinda in Nikita was amazing! and Rachel, that Accused episode blew my mind. You really didn't want to think she did any of it.....

I watched the whole O.C. series 3 times in one month last year. That's how good it was. Didn't get to watch it years ago when they first aired on CW. You guys set the new standard for what a TV drama was, not just a teen drama. Season 4 was very underrated! Wish it could have gone on a lot longer but it was awesome!

Taylor Townsend started off as the mean bitch that was hooking up with Dean Hess in S3 but then she was given more of a bigger role to play as Mischa Barton left and so Taylor had become part of this new "core four." And S4 was rushed but you got to see her develop in that episode where they were in a coma on Christmas, and they each had to do something in that reality to earn their ticket back out of the coma. Taylor stood up to her mom and Ryan helped Seth get with Summer and the Cohens together. It would have been nice if they had brought in Autumn Reeser at the same time as Rachel Bilson in S1, and Rachel started off as a small character: just some friend of Marissa that is a party girl, and somehow made it into a 4 season stretch that made her character so integral of the "core four."

I remember that Rachel’s part was originally just another girl at the party & was fortunate she was one with lines in pilot, and then evolved into a regular. I don’t know how far into 1st season, or if it was 2nd season, her name officially changed from “Guest Star” to one of main actors in opening credits. If I remember correctly, Rachel’s character was that stereotypical ditzy girl in 1st 2-4 episodes.

Gives OG fans especially new gems to cherish about the show. Autumn is absolutely brilliant and I'm glad to see the praise. The end of last week's podcast when Rachel came in, I started to get really teary eyed listening to you guys talk. I am so amazed at how impacting this podcast and walks down memory lane of the show has been for me.... It seems to me that Summer is very unfair to Seth in this episode, saying that Seth has no passions. When she was the one who asked him to leave the comics, when she became obsessed with getting into Brown and took away her space! In my opinion, she didn't let him be himself. So now she's going to claim that she has no passions, even Seth delayed her admission to art school because she was expelled from Brown!

ah, it's so hard to pick, but i think if it were up to me: - i would have liked more episodes wherein ryan and marissa's relationship was happier and more content, even if all the drama eventually still happened - ultimately, i think i'm team Lindsay. i think ryan and marissa had the best chemistry, but accepting that their relationship was too dramatic and tumultuous to last, i think Lindsay was the next best pairing, in terms of chemistry. - if i had never seen seasons 1-3, i think i would agree that ryan and taylor have chemistry, but what i see in season 4 is: the season 4 ryan character is a completely different person than the character we knew from seasons 1-3, and so it feels like ryan isn't being true to himself.

It's always a bothersome irk that out of the blue, I'll hear about how show X is finally wrapping up it's nth season: Gotham, NCIS, Flash, Arrow, etc and I never really watch a whole episode much less a entire season because of how niche it was and how you had to have been following from the start to understand what is going on. And it's always a bummer how The OC only got like 3.5 seasons because S4 was cut short. But looking back and rewatching the whole series every holiday from Thanksgiving to NYE, this is a show where there's no fillers, they cram a ton of stuff and leave it all out on the field so there's nothing left in the tank. And with the "core 4" no longer kids but young adults it was hard to do a show about OC when they went off to college for a bit. It always felt like a spin-off show until they regroup back to OC and the show lost it's flavor when Caleb Nicol died and he was the embodiment of OC.
