The Shaking Lathe

Adding weight to your lathe can help control the shakes.

I have the same older model of your lathe (in blue). Originally, I piled sacks of concrete dust up to the lathe bed under the frame, which I bolted to a platform of heavy wood & MDF. No vibration then. I later decided that was more than necessary, and inserted a shelf 1/3 way down, leaving concrete under that and sheathing it in that far. That's fine. I suspect you can do even better than using some weight plates in this way if you choose. But all that matters is the the lathe only moves when you push it!
