My dad brought home a tape it must have been around 1976 I was nearly 11 years old it was Paul Brady and Matt Molloy.... It was the first song I ever heard Paul Brady sing and I instantly loved his singing and loved this song... Being interested in Irish history this song gives a historical account of how Ireland was exploited in the past... Sadly still is today.. Paul went to the same school as my mum in Sion Mills Co, Tyrone, Mrs Brady his mother was a teacher... For some reason Paul's voice is something that I warm to, maybe its because of his Tyrone accent. I've been lucky to have been able to see him in concert over the years I think at least 4 times and what you see is what you get the man can sing loud and clear... His voice is a gift for sure he can sing the songs of the past as well as his own songs. He is a a fantastic artist...... As listening to this rendition of Shamrock Shore proves... Enough said!

There is confusion between "Paddy's Green Shamrock Shore" and this song "The Shamrock Shore". Brady has sung both songs. Regardless of the name of the song, he really masters this tune.

Thank you very much , I've never heard this before ..... nothing changes , the British took our parliament then and E.U is doing the exact same thing .... we have business and lively hoods build up from grass roots being taken by vulture funds buying up all the bad debt....the planters are from eastern Europe this time and our early 21st century sons of Eire are in Canada, America and Australia

What a ridiculous thing to say the UK took our land. We willingly joined the EU. There is no comparison.

Ye brave young sons of Eireann's isle i hope you will attend a while To the wrongs of dear old Ireland I'm going to relate Twas black and cursed was the that our parliament was taken away & all our grief & suffering commences from that day for our hardy sons and daughters fair to other countries must repair & leave their native land behind in sorrow to deplore for to seek employment they must roam far far away from their native home from that sore oppressed island they call the shamrock shore

Now ireland is with plenty blessed but the people they are so repressed all by those cursed tyrants we are forced for to obey some hotty landlords for please our houses & our lands they'll seize to put 50 farms into 1 & take us all away regardless of the widows cries, the mothers tears & the orphans sighs in thousands we are driven from home which grieves our hearts full sore we are fraught by famine & disease we emigrated across the seas from that sore oppressed island that...
