I don't think it's a love story, more that she just connects with it on a spiritual level because it doesn't treat her like she's incomplete or flawed. It sees her for who she is. Also this looks pretty cool tbh

wrong, it's a totally absurd and unnecessary plot. with that budget and his capacity to be great when he actually tries, this coulda been something special. hell, even if he had just kept it as a scenario like u mentioned, where she just bonds with him over being misunderstood. but no, he had to make it an actual fucking love story with Gill the Goldfish. fuck outta here. DOES EVERY HOLLYWOOD CONTRACT HAVE A RIDER WRITTEN IN WHERE THERE HAS TO BE AN UNNECESSARY SHOEHORNED LOVE STORY? i can suspend my disbelief pretty damn far, but this, this is just a slap in the face

The creature from the Black Lagoon movies are my nostalgia, because we would check them out from our local library, on Super 8mm Reels, and project them onto the kitchen wall. The creature from this movie resembles the Black Lagoon creature and there was that reference to the Amazon, in this clip. Also, the BL Creature was trying to capture the beautiful woman in the movie and this one seems to have a similar vibe.

It was a kinda twisted love story of a creature in the Amazon river wanting a lady researcher. Mayhem of the horror variety ensues. At least from what I remember. Think King Kong underwater. It's been years since I've seen it. Edit: Hey, Trivia Time: Del Toro was suppose to direct the remake of Creature from the Black Lagoon but due to other projects was replaced. Seems Del Toro is a fan of the original. Maybe that's why this one is so similar.
