@@robbie574 Thank you, my friend. The more I research this topic, the more I want to encourage America to bring back ALL products and manufacturing processes to the USA 🇺🇸...

The counterfeit market disturbs me. You find it infesting coins and jewelry, watches, any premium item or precious metals, collectibles in general

@@Wcquick It does me as well, my friend. It hurts so many people, yet thrives in this poor economy like a plague 😞

I don't have a big problem with copies and clones. I hate counterfeits with a passion. I ordered a counterfeit Microtech just to see what 1/10th price copy would be like. There is nothing to indicate that it is not authentic. I could not tell if I didn't have quite a few Microtech products and saw pretty subtle signs. Edge not perfectly symmetrical. OTF blade play more than I would expect from a new Microtech. Incorrect fasteners. The price of course but if I had paid full price for it I might have been a lot slower to notice. I won't pay over $100 for a knife unless I get it from Blade HQ.

@dbmail545 Me neither, my friend. For me, copies are OK as they don't claim to be the original. The shady to dark zone is clones and counterfeits. They have hurt people, businesses, and manufacturers alike. Just last week, I had to inform a good friend that a $450 knife he purchased from a reputable dealer was indeed a counterfeit. Luckily, he had the dealer's contact information, the dealer apologized and made II right as he did not know it was counterfeit. Makes my blood boil to see our knife community hurt by these fraudulent blades. I always seek out licensed dealers and businesses with good reputations like BHQ, SMKW, etc... it just is good practice. Thank you for your comment and have a great day 😎 👍 🇺🇲

Point is to produce a knife that is equal or sometimes ever better for $300 cheaper. $320 for a knife that has 1500% markup. To me that is criminal. I would never pay that. In other words they sell 1 knife instead of 100 and 99 of the people that would be interested are knifeless. So for Chinese to make a knife that is equal in quality to sell for the 99 buyers are now happy because they made the smart decision and got as good knife for lot less. The knife industry itself is killing itself being greedy. In this case you are paying $300 for the ZT marking ... that you also get with the Chinese knife.

@paulboyce8537 The point of this video is that replicator countries simply exist off of others' works; and designs, and do not profit off of their own earned creativity. They don't invest in the creation, planning, designing, or innovative processes involved in making intellectual property a reality. They simply take others' existing works and either counterfeit them with cheap materials; or inferior metallurgical processes, including improper heat treatments, or clone them. That being said, I respect countries that make similar items without cloning or counterfeiting involved. It is OK to work off of a design as long as you don't fraudulently call it your own. This is NEVER OK. China is The Replicator Country most guilty of counterfeits and fraudulent products. There is no excuse for it. They copy items from just about anyone including Russia, their ally, who sanctioned them to stop. As I stated in prior videos, I would trust those knives to accomplish everyday tasks in general use, but I would NEVER trust them in a hostile environment. I trust OEMs that earned their dues; and went through extensive testing and certification, then earned their stripes in the field. In business, I have sent knives all over the world; and purchased them from many different countries, but NEVER did I have ANY soldier from anywhere say, "Send me a Chinese Knock-off"... heck, never once had a request for a Chinese knife for that matter. The base reality is, that your average Joe doesn't care about manufactured quality unless they collect, sell, or are in harm's way. That is the true determining factor for sales of these types of knives. In the professional market, these knives aren't even a forethought. For me, they are simply a novelty.

@@the.sharpestedge Knife maker has a choice. Sell 1 for $320 or 100 for $20-30 and make the same money and more. It would eliminate the market for copies. So no I don't feel sorry because these copies are just as good and saying you wouldn't trust them is just utter BS.

@paulboyce8537 When you invest in research and development, it costs $. Pay employees $. Pay for materials $. Obtain proper metallurgical studies; certifications, heat treatments $. China replicators don't have these costs... they just grab whatever materials they have on hand and do what they do. Just the facts. 50 years in the industry; 25 in business, and thankfully retired... not one professional warrior worldwide I sold products to asked me for a Chinese knock-off. No one in a combat zone would. That's Fact.
