How can this movie not win the oscar! Even against pulp fiction and Forrest gump. It still is a better movie than other two!!!

I remember at the time around its original release it just had the worst marketing campaign so no one saw it. The slow burn, word-of-mouth build up was incredible but that was over the next two years so it kind of missed that Oscars momentum - which is a maximum 12-month cycle - that those other two movies had because they exploded on Day 1 of their release. For me, that's fine with Pulp Fiction, but Forrest Gump is possibly one of the most overrated, overhyped and irritating movies of all time! So yeah, that's annoying :)

The Walking Dead would be so much better now if they didn't get rid of Frank Darabont. The first season was so well put together

+GamesAndCodeVX Finally someone with the the same thought as I am. I completely agree with you on there. They shouldn't change the director. OMG the first season was so good. That season is the reason I watch the whole season of Walking Dead. Why they change him, so stupid. :(

I think the Academy will give lifetime achievement award to Morgan and Tim, just because of Shawshank Redemption.

IMO, the scene where Red was panicking in the stall should have been added. That was only around 2 minutes. Frank should have cut a bit of that sequence where Red was looking for the tree. It felt longer than it should have.

Why is Morgan Freeman acting like such a prick? He should be happy and grateful that the movie has had such an impact after all these years.

I get the feeling Morgan Freeman doesn't care for Tim Robbins too much, at least it appears there is something there that maybe we don't know about. It might be Morgan Freeman tolerated Tim while filming.

First of all, I adore this movie. However... The cut scene is basically the only one that somewhat addresses race. In a movie that deals with prison in the US, where the incarceration rate for black men is astronomically high as a result of racism, it displays an ignorant privilege by avoiding the underlying racial issues. Shawshank is a fantastic film, yet issues of race are completely ignored. Whilst avoiding the topic of race allows the Andy-Red friendship to transcend the racial boundaries of the 40s-60s (when they were imprisoned) it completely whitewashes the prison industrial system.
@andrewg37687 жыл бұрын
well race is not mentioned in the book either so it doesn't matter as this film isn't about race
@ikechiihemeson60234 жыл бұрын
@@andrewg3768 I agree, but I’ll also say that Red wasn’t originally black in the book. I think casting Morgan Freeman may have been a nuanced, perhaps unintentional, detail in addressing the role incarceration plays in institutional racism, which is a sad reality, but a reality nonetheless
