Great explanation of the forces from different directions on the sheer. When I built my skiff the only had a slight curve up as it curved in toward the bow so it was easy to do in one piece. My chine log did curve up quite a bit towards the bow. I steam bent the first one which was quite time consuming and a bit of a pain. I decided to laminate the other side from 3 thinner pieces and it was so much easier.

Lamination is much better for creating a fair curve and a stable timber long term 👍

Hind sight, when I built my 16’ Outrage ski boat, I wish I had laminated my shear clamp. 1” thick white oak doesn’t bend that easy. I learned how to steam. Laminating would have been so much easier. Great video.

What is the cost of having all those CAD/CAM models printed out in a 2D format?

hey what is a good cad program to play on for beginners with boats? rhino supposed to be good but i have an older mac and ipad

Whatever program you use, lofting hull forms is quite a difficult undertaking. I use Fusion 360 for all the work I do and it is compatible with Mac.
