I watched the documentary last night and was really blown away by it. I loved Tegan and Sara years ago and I had no idea this happened. I can’t even imagine how awful that must have felt to wonder who was behind it and if it was someone close to them, etc. And it was terrible for the people who were duped by the fake Tegan, too. The whole thing is so unsettling and invasive. I know it may be unlikely at this point, but it sure would be awesome for fake Tegan to be identified and brought to justice.

She said before the internet..."There was no way of knowing other bands, there was no one for us." I'm pretty sure The Indigo Girls were a band. They are lesbians. I knew of them I even went to one of their concerts.

She meant "knowing" like personally. Tegan and Sara reach out to new queer artists regularly through email and DM. When they were young in the late 90s early 00s, they had no way of contacting the Indigo Girls, and who knows if they would have even taken the call anyway.

TBF we did have mail and telephones so although it wouldn't be easy, it would still be possible to contact other artists during that time period and get to know them personally. In the late 90's early 00's many people used the internet to communicate and it was much easier to network and meet people. So I still find her statement confusing but thanks for trying to help me understand what she was talking about.

@@hotram1 I'm almost 40. I know what the 90s and 00s were like. All I said was that phones existing does not mean T&S could get the IGs' phone number or that the IGs would pick up. And they were kids, the responsibility doesn't fall on them. What T&S said stands for many reasons and to argue against that is kinda weird.

@@rainiebrit I'm not arguing against that I'm not understanding it because it doesn't make sense to me for the the very reasons I already explained. I'm not sure what your damage is but my comment to you was polite and I thanked you. There's nothing weird about not understanding something. Oh and your last sentence doesn't make sense, just to clairify, T&S didn't say anything, Tegan said it. they were talking to Tegan.
