Stumbled upon your channel earlier today and I have to say I love your reviewing style and crispiness of your voice! You say it how it is and offer good points and bad points which I dearly appreciate. I’ve been looking for a new E-ink note device since my scribe just isn’t doing it for me anymore, and I gotta say you made this one look very appealing for my use case which is note taking and document marking. I don’t need all the fancy touch screens, color layers, etc, and the text on this one looks nice and clear without the screen door effect!

I had a scribe and thought I would use it for note taking and annotation of pdf for a professional 3 month course I was on, only then I realised it was just a toy. I purchased the remarkable pro out of desperation, and absolutely love it. I have all the apple stuff. All the iPads, but the remarkable is where I really get shit done.

In January, Apple may be introducing an entry level iPad at the same price point as this. Larger than the Mini with an A16 chip.

Not even tactile screen or backlight? And it seems so slow in the video.

It is slow, yep, like any eink screen. I tried Remarkable as well and it’s just as slow. But like I say in the video, you’re not really supposed to be zipping around the OS in the same way you would an iPad. The buttons help you get to where you need to go without needing to tap everywhere. And backlight would be nice, but would affect the clarity of the image.

I wonder if this e-ink device can recognize you hand writing so it's then later searchable. And if so which languages. Some e-ink tablets support actually more languages then iPad in that regard. And yes, I would buy iPad and e-ink tablet if I can afford it, but since not I just got iPad mini :P

It does handwriting recognition and conversion to text in 70 languages - the software for that is by a company called MyScript (look them up, it’s a pretty big operation). I don’t think it’ll search based on handwritten notes though….

@ It’s always a pleasure to see your smiling face! 😊 And I’ve been trying to decide whether or not I need a designated e-ink notebook on top of my iPad mini, MacBook M1 Air and Kindle. I was looking at the new Supernote A5 X2 that just came out or the old A6 Nomad, or maybe I just need it at all. LOL!!! 😆
