Dhalsim and Blanka were the first bizarre fighters in the franchise that set the tradition for future games in the universe to always have at least one weird character in the roster. I didn't like him that much at first when SF2 came out, but eventually grew fond of him. great character!

According to the Street Fighter Canon Plot Guide, a Japanese writeup in "Hadouken no Nazou" claims Dhalsim's fighting style is based on kalaripayattu. His training in Yoga is what gave him his flexibility and stretching abilities, while the ability to breathe fire was already covered in the video above.

Obviously the Dark Stalkers series didn't go very far, but Dhalsim's unconventional move set would have made him a really cool unlockable character in that series. Also, his long range attacks would be fun to use in a beat 'em up game.

while i hated fighting him the most in sf2(with how clunky it was he always tripped me the second it started.) i always liked dhalsim's history like his fire being from agni/how in the comics it's illusion based by expecting the pain long enough to be striked,his son being friends with guile's daughter,being the reason cammy broke free and thought it was cool in 5(also funny he just kicks ibuki & birdie out of the helicopter when they invade the shadaloo base.) he teaches the police officer to breath flames like him really alongside other characters showing anyone can learn their techniques in time. also thought it was a bit funny in svc chaos he calls mai shiranui fat when she's not that different from other snk games(would say chun li's more closer.) outside maybe 15 and was my favorite part of street fighter 2v(liked the way ryu learnt the hadoken alongside exploring an ancient temple to focus his spirit fighting the illusion as an akuma esque monster to see he and ken were fighting each other to control their strength and actually remember an old video of dhalsim teaching ryu & ken hado where it explained his techniques being real life teachings.:3) being what i wish they did with him in the animated movie after he sensed ryu's energy(would've liked him being the calcutta girl's father and after ryu saves her alongside sensing his energy he helps ryu train alongside e. honda.) which i like is extending to the games with 5 that i hope continues to 6.(would love him,oro,karin & rose/menat being ryu or the player characters guides.)

The Aghoris... Sometimes they're covered in ash. Hence why one of his sprites is gray.
@vh-ali_n-teen
@vh-ali_n-teen 2 жыл бұрын
The irony in Dhalsim’s name (beans/lentils) “Vegetarian Cannibal” or “vegetable guy” as a side effect of consumption of narcotics which makes him weak and slow in movement . The AGHORIS apart from consuming the corpse, the tribe members practicing cannibalism utilize the dead body to the fullest. For instance, they transform human skulls into bowls and carve pieces of bones into jewelry. Every Aghori possesses a human skull which they use as a bowl. Why? Because according to their belief system, the human life of a deceased clings to the skull’s top. Additionally, for them to transcend, they need to face death directly. Due to this belief, the Aghoris gather the human ashes from the cremation grounds, smearing them on their whole bodies - from head to toe. This act, according to them, brings them closer to their Lord Shiva and protects them from future diseases. After smearing the human ashes all over, the Aghoris meditate and pray.

I read recently of an India cannibal tribe called the "Aghori". I thought maybe Dhalsim was based off that. Like he was part of the tribe at first then denounced the ways of it and started practicing Yoga. Because it does seem odd that he's wearing skulls which would be the "yang" and doing yoga is the "ying". IDK. Just a theory that's probably wrong, although that would make a great repenting backstory for him.

Dhalsim was thrash in street fighter 2. As a teenager most teenagers dismissed him as thrash tier. And when teenagers the minority who did pick him. They 9 times out of 10 got bodied and quickly dropped him 🤣. He got absolutely destroyed at every arcade by majority of the cast. When street fighter 2 turbo came around. Dhalsim once again was the pathetic bendy punching bag. What a joke he was. Alpha games he got destroyed once again. He only got good in sft 4 and sft 5. His best appearance is street fighter 5 without a doubt and possibly street fighter 6

Master of the Flying Guillotine was not racist, any more than Street Fighter 2 is racist. Merely representing an Indian martial artist as a fighter with traditional Indian clothes doesn’t mean that character was meant to be of an inferior race.

The are AS FAR AS I KNOW there are 3 Indian fighting styles from India and last time i checked Yoga isn't a martial arts. If he would incorporated an Indian fighting style with Yoga, then i wouldn't have beed okay with that. But stretchy arms from Yoga. Sorry not my cup of tea.
