I have the same problem and my 09 Genesis V8 has been down for 2 years.... I opened the ECU and found the same burn hole through the board from a capacitor.

Have the same problem put a new ecu in the car and it burnt it out instantly what would cause that? I know its a short but where and what can be causing it ?

The ECU that you bought needs to be programmed to start the car. If you send the original burned module along with the replacement we can program it and recover data even from burned module. Please contact us on social media in DM

What type of capacitor is on the ECM and what is the capacitance?

It is a Genesis OEM factory capacitor. Most electronic components hold 12v references.

These guys are robbing people. It's clearly a through hole electrolytic capacitor and can be easily replaced for a few dollars in parts and labor. They even de-soldered the blown capacitor from the board in the video and you'd have no reason to do so unless you were going to replace it.

Bought a Equus from the auction and is not starting, The BCM is working fine but I have the impression the ECU is fried. Where is the ECU located? 2011 Equus V8. Also, I am in Orlando, FL. Probably will have to send the module via UPS is cheaper than a tow truck. :)

You can send in the ecu to us, the ecu on your car is located driver side under the hood close to the windshield.

traction control epb and vsm is all part of ABS system which is not related to ECM, however the Check engine light can be triggered because of those codes, you need to scan the car.

Have a 2009 v8 4.6L alot of these cars have a recall for the ecu. Check for recall before you buy a new one.

Help!
