Good video, this game is an absolute gem and is objectively a better game than 90% of the mainstream games popular right now in 2023, but about what you said on games being fun when you win and not if you lose alot, thats a you problem. like bro you lose in any of the Dark Souls games alot if your new to the series but i garantee tht the majority of the people who play it or beat say they love the game because of the gameplay and how unique it is, or was when it became popular. Like bro i lose alot more than i win in For Honor but the combat is what i play it for, its 100% one of the best online Multiplayer melee games ive ever played, you should feel like a badass even when your not winning if you really love the game and if you get genuinely mad or upset over losing at a videogame you have some real life issues to deal with, because its just a game at the end of the day and your meant to enjoy the majority of the time you spend playing it, your not supposed to enjoy winning the game more than the actual game-play itself or it defeats the purpose of it being fun. take it for dark souls again i play it most of the people i know who dont like the game are the types of people who get pissed and throw their controller when they lose because they have disfunctional lives that they try to vent their stress from into gaming, all the people i know who love Dark Souls and dont care about how much they lose and keep their cool learn and beat the game faster and enjoy every second of it more. its all about. you have to enjoy and have fun with the journey more than the reward from the journey or you will be overall less satisfied and your probably not gonna appreciate the reward as much either. also i used to be the same thinking about everything from a scientific standpoint, where you view everything that gives you happiness s a hit of dopamine virtually making you an addict of a drug produced by your own body will only make you unhappy, just go about life doing what you do and stop worrying about how things will make you feel after the fact and enjoy your current existence as you are every waking second or you will never be happy with anything and your judgment on what really matters will be clouded. Man i should be a life coach or sum.🖐😆

A really MASSIVE issue is the way they deal with cheaters. There is a guy called LuckyOnHonor who is a renowned cheater on the game. He has had an ungodly amount of reports from basic players to major For Honor content creators like Havok. He as been doing this since the games release and is STILL active on the game as he has never been banned. This alone shows the report system does not work and they should of put an anti-cheat software into the game
@Jotakyy
@Jotakyy Жыл бұрын
The amount of cheaters compared to other games is really minimal though
@WaterLockser
@WaterLockser Жыл бұрын
@Jotakyy Doesn't matter what number of cheaters there are. Ubi should have a better way to catch them out. If people can make the cheats and set up tab for specifically For Honor scripts, then you know there are more cheaters than you realise and if nothing is done and word spreads the number of cheaters will only increase. The fact the dude i mentioned has been doing this since games release and is STILL able to play is just dam right wrong.

@Jotakyy From what I've learnt from Havok is for dodge script users characters like Warden with variable bash timings tend to catch them but the issue is you play so many folks that its easy to forget who scripts. I tend to block their account so their player icon doesn't show, so i can tell when i face a scripter next instead of trying to remember their name

I've had ubi follow through on a single report in 7 years lol 😂 ubi just doesnt take FH seriously. Idk what it's going to take to get them to acknowledge it's potential. Granted, I really don't run into cheaters like at all but the amount of Smurf accounts on that game are god damn ridiculous

I've been playing this game on and off since launch and I enjoy it quite a lot. I am not sweaty good, but not terrible either, probably above average. I like that I personally never tilt while playing it since when you loose you get that you've been outplayed and it is quite clear what you could have done differently, muscle memory gets in the way a bit too often tho. It is a really enjoyable game if you like fighting games and mindgames with people. Duels is the best mode. In all honesty it is the only competitive game that I can tolerate.

Man i love going against ppl more skilled than me or 1vX, the more i get fking destroyed by ppl who play better than me the more i want to improve, more i adapt and learn their mistakes and mine, its fking insane how much i want to keep fking facing the more skilled player until i get better. Also 1vX are amazing, still remember a match i was 1v4 as a berserker, at the time i wasnt that great at parrying, but for some reason i managed to parry every attack and dodge, wasnt hit a single time and beat the fk out of the 4 guys... that shit felt amazing. Thats also one of the reason for honor felt special to me, no other fighting games have fight multiple oponents or with allies, and i love that, also getting absolutely destroyed to then wait for a new match doesnt feel good, too long of a wait time too often and u cant learn much, while for honor u just respawn and get beat till u git gud.

for honor is a fighting game. which means that just like any other fighting game, there is a huge skill gap between new and seasoned players. in my opinion this is a good aspect because most games nowadays are made easy for new players so spending time to get good is actually worth something in for honor

I took a couple month break recently and came back and honestly it’s been rough but I have so many memories on it to where it’s so hard to put down for too long. The core combat is better than what it was at launch but it's ruined entirely because of Ubisofts refusal to balance feats and new heroes. Like Year 1 Years aside from maybe Kensei and Shugoki are just hot fucking trash and their feats rub salt in the wound, some games it feels like if you play characters like Warden or PK it's just throwing matches because BP and Jiang Jun exists. It baffles me how the hell they managed to improve the combat itself with the CCU update at its core yet destroyed literally everything else surrounding it to bits and pieces which nullified the CCU update over time.

Trial by fire my dude. People have been playing this game for 7 years, just a couple of matches doing well against the entry level players will send you to mid level players no matter what you do, I know it's a dumb meme but for new players they really do just have to get good just to play at a basic level in the game. Hell, playing against AI in PvAI Breach matches teaches you to fight players better than the actual tutorials and trials since they've drastically changed how they fight since launch.

That’s the major issue with games that have an Cult-fellowing. These cult players that plays the game for so long that they can be described as an MLG(MasterLevelGamer) or and ELG(EliteLevelGamer). Because of this NewPlayers are having a hard time trying to learn and enjoy the game. When ya have toxic assholes that spam emotes after killing is just aggravating at least. As you said it, it’s a competitive game. There will always toxic player. I for one love the game but I don’t blame others for hating it for it toxicity and skill gap. What had me stop play for a good while was the multiplayer story. I really like the campaign story. Apollyon is definitely one of my all time favorite antagonist. But the multiplayer story just got boring. It always the KnightFaction doing the main evil thing, VikingFaction was only ever being an a nuisance, and the SamuraiFaction being a reclusive, woe is me, good guys. I want more variety in the story making.

Totally agree with you at 4:10. The matchmaking of For honor is great, and concise when it comes to your skill from my experience. I had to start all of my progress again on PC after switching from PS4, and even though I had to sit in noob lobbies for a couple of matches while having the skill of someone who has over 500 hours of gameplay, after maybe 3 or 4 matches I was put in lobbies with rep 70s and overall higher skill players. Usually, most multiplayer games that have "skill based matchmaking" use your level or win/loss ratio to decipher what lobbies you'll enter, however for honor actually used your KDR and overall skill.

It would be hard to balance the match making with the majority of the players being old. Doesn't have a huge player base but the player base is pretty much ride or die. At this point, if you are new and the game interests you just keep playing. The best thing we can hope for is a sequel or a soft reboot that draws attention to the game, besides that we are just stuck with the game how it is. Devs do the best they can with small content drops and slow balancing, and even new heroes.

I used to like this game a lot many years ago. When they did the CCU (core combat update) it made the game too beginner friendly for my liking and it removed some skill expression. The update consisted of lowering damage across the board, removing and/or lowering stamina costs and making attacks have their indicator hidden for a third of their animation so light attack spam was being abused a lot instead of people trying to play mind games with one another. Some attacks had weird number changes that also made them completely un-viable. I was someone that played so much at the time that I fought grandmasters and could hold entire lobbies hostage consistently at the time, that was undeniably an unhealthy game-state but it's one I prefer over the future version of the game. Making the game more beginner friendly should bring in more people and it should prevent matches like the ones I consistently terrorized by acting like a raid-boss. I don't blame Ubisoft for changing the game but when I'm reminded of the game by random talk or youtube recommendations I then reminisce of the fun days I've had with the boyz.

I have thousands of hours in For Honor. It's a love-hate, toxic relationship with dopamine hits. And yes, starting out the climb to being a better player is a manure filled pit of garbage. With that being said, its unlike any other game out there. If you're a midevil/ancient warror buff that enjoys sword action movies and documentaries about warrior and heros of the past, it's a great at giving you that sword clashing battlefield feeling. If you like the warrior esthetic, adrenaline filled anxiety riddled moments of coming out on top out of an unwinnable battle than it's for you. If you don't like to become better at the expense of losing alot, and I mean alot then maybe it isn't for you. Its like all things, it's an acquired taste. If you've never played it, I'd say give it a try, stick to the objective and try making friends that can either teach you or grow with you. The crucible of battle will mold your play style, and it's alright to die in order to get better. Good luck to all the other FH players out there and welcome to all the new warriors starting out. Don't give up after a few losses, learn from them and, like he said, do the tutorials, trials, and train for a bit before hopping into the fire.

"... it's unlike any other game out there." Chivalry 2 exists. Sure, it's much simpler all things considered, but it has roughly the same core fighting mechanics as For Honor, only with your weapon's hit box being much more important than knowing how to guardbreak. Of course, it's not a Ubisoft title, so what do I know.

My number 1 problem I had with For Honor was when it launched its first month, and ever since I never looked back and cared to play it. It had the worst sour taste in mouth experience from a game. And I can't remember the last game before that I played that was just as bad if not worst. That's how bad For Honor at launch was. Like people would rage quit, crash the lobby, and your experience and rewards you'd gain would disappear. And so it's like either you're stomping, and someone rage quits and deletes your progression. Or you get stomped and feel like it was a complete waste of time. I don't know how much has changed since then, but just because of that pitiful experience at launch. And this game really is a unique take on fighting games.

It maybe sounds stupid but just focus on yourself. Critically analyze what you're doing why you're doing it and how you can improve it. You'll find yourself getting frustrated far less and also start improving in games much faster. (speaking as someone who used to get really upset in games)

A majority of the playerbase is really helpful. A number of times I've found someone maining a character I'm trying to learn and I shoot them a message asking them to give me tips and they whole ass drop everything they're doing to hop on customs with me and teach me how to be good with a character. That's so wholesome. For Honor allows for a lot of cheap and dishonourable plays, and it makes a lot of people angry. People can act toxic when they're angry, but they can also act really kindly when they're not. It really depends on the kind of players you meet just as importantly as the kind of days they've had. Some days I'm a really honorable duelist, bowing and saying good fight n shit. Other days I pick raider, emote spam and ledge people. Calling a fanbase toxic doesn't do this nuance justice I feel.

I used to love this game, and play duels all the time cuz I mostly love the 1v1 test of skill that fighting games offer. But I grew apart from this game cuz of weird developer patches where they wanted the game to be less "reactionary" and sped up a bunch of moves in the cast so unless you are sweating your balls off you can't enjoy fighting other people casually without either guessing crazy mixups and just being light spammed into unlockable/undodgable mix. Not to mention that for some reason, the devs are obsessed with making the dlc characters basically have the same moveset and boring as fuck with the same unlockable bash mix and everyone having a dodge heavy even though it doesnt fit certain characters (looking at you highlander/warlord/hitokiri) Game honestly made me unhappy playing it only check in to see if they finally make interesting dlc characters.

Been playing since launch day. Imo, I think the game is in the best state it's ever been in. So many small changes over the years have added up to a completely different game from launch. I will say that those early days of the game when everyone sucked were so much fun. If they added matchmaking to the Arcade mode, made it part of the base game, and updated the campaign to reflect all the combat changes added over the years, I think that would help with the onboarding process. I will say though that it's the perfect fighting game for people that suck at fighting games (myself included). No complex button combos to memorize, just a core combat system to learn and go from there.

I had moved to a different country and by doing so, had to leave my Xbox behind. Meaning I’ll be having an extended break from For Honor and it’s quite a nice change of pace. I still keep up to date with the happenings by watching For Honor KZbinrs like Raven Knight and SolidSol. When it comes to this game, all you really have to do is take breaks every once in a while. For me, when I didn’t feel like For Honor, I’d play Halo campaigns or Klonoa. Destress with some chill single player games.

As a veteran player of for honor back in its golden days it was a lot of fun to just play some casual games of duel, breach and domination after a long day of work. As time passed the toxicity grew like a cancer and the content wasn't that appealing (to me at least, don't know how it is for everyone else) so I stopped playing and now looking back I'm glad I stopped but at the same time it breaks my heart seeing for honor in the state it's in

I've sunk thousands of hours into the game and played since the beta till now, I gotta say the game is in a solid spot. It's hay day is long past and that's clear but the dev team has consistently worked on a game that from all I can tell has relatively low player counts and is quite old at this point. I love the game and probably will continue to play on and off till it's either shut down or gets a sequel (unlikely).

The Vanilla Game was the BEST honestly! i was a 0.2% Orochi on PS4 after the first 2 DLC characters an all the unblockable attacks, We all know what they were doing releasing OP toons an Nurfing them later after the community all purchased the hero. I Quit after the full rework of both characters i played Warden and Orochi i was very upset with the changes an I didn't like them at all.

I have played the game off and on since release and you have a lot of good points in this video. As others have said, at its core fh is a fighting game. You will struggle to find a fighting game of the age fh is without a gargantuan skill gap between noobs and vets. Reviving a fighting game is effectivly impossible because of this and fh will likely just have a dedicated fanbase, due to its amazing niche, until ubi doesnt want to maintain it. That being said I have yet to find a game that fills me with such adrenaline as For Honor and persistence will be rewarded with unmatched competative gaming momments.

I think the problem with for honor is quite different than what you described. I don't think having a sweaty audiance is a bad thing not at all. I have been playing since launch on and off something along of playing for 2-3 months then quitting until next year. My problem with the game is how absurdly expensive getting skins is. I do remember devs saying that you should pick 2-3 characters and they think that is what a person should play so they should be able to afford those, but if you want to get more you have to pay. I never liked this approach and always disliked how grindy it is to unlock anything. 2nd problem: New maps. We haven't had new maps as far as I am aware of for the past 2-3 years? No, I don't count maps that are only here for 2 weeks for the event and it's only a reskin of an old map. Back then when the game came out we had nem maps like every half a year. 3rd problem: Newly released heroes are op as hell and if you don't play it at the release you are missing out on easy farm. For example when apolion came out if you 4 man stacked vs her you just all died from dot then it got nerfed to the ground where it didn't even do dmg.

After almost 4000 hours on this game, one thing that I've learned is you can't get mad at it. I just laugh now. I agree it is not noob friendly, I have tried to get so many friends to get into it and only a handful have stayed. The game is like Mortal Kombat in terms of how much there is to learn and the timing of everything. It definitely takes over a year to actually have a good understanding of the game and most people don't want to commit that but those of us that have been playing since launch it's like riding a bike. I probably could play it in 10 years and still play decently.

Such a shame the direction Ubisoft went with this game, it was initially pretty grounded in reality (per se), Knights and Samurai and Vikings looked pretty damn accurate-badass-and realistic, then they basically went the route Rainbow Six Siege did with all the absurd-cringe operators.

I recently came back after taking a break when WM dropped. Is it just me or does parrying on xbox feel next to impossible? I feel like the indicator for parrying doesnt actually match the timing when your hit. Thats if it even works at all. Ive had moments where I've parried perfectly and thrown a heavy instead of parrying

I am currently downloading this game again. I stopped playing pretty early on. I loved it until the sweat started dripping from especially Orochi players. I just couldn't deal with it. So very close to the drop of the first DLC I just had it. The game started to become so sweaty I could see it coming through my screen. I tried once again after the warlord dropped. But got my ass handed to me the next 15 games i tried. I still find that I want to play the game. but I just can't bring myself to face the sweat. I can't put in enough time to get as good so i'm hoping it's possible to have a more casual and fun time in PvE.

I'm a pretty new player. ~ 90 hours. People seem to be exaggerating the toxicity of the game. Even watching videos of other people's experiences, compared to most other competitive games, it's nothing. Most people don't even use any chat features. BM exists in all other games, especially fighting games. Might be a hot take, but if you can't take the occasional taunt or sh!t talking, find another hobby or a single player game. Not saying it's cool for people to be like that, but it's just going to happen.

9:00 They think they have. Its not good or well designed. I have 2k hours. Devs stopped caring entirely after warmonger. They don't want to make a good game, they just wanna quell the comp community that has removed everything remotely creative and fucked up the identity from corperate angles. Imagine, if you know tf2, 6's players having free reign to change the game and influence things enough to basically remove all modes but 5cp, all weapons but approved meta, and make weak classes clones of generalists, while salty furries change the artstyle to be more like snuff fanfic. That's entirely apt to what ubisoft has done and keeps doing with fh. It is bad.

I really enjoyed this game at launch. Once I got better and leveled more it became frustrating. The different gear was especially annoying. Some people would get revenge like 3 times in a 1v1 while your buddy fought another dude further away. Then removing the old cancel to give every character soft feints was annoying. I preferred the soft feints being rare and having to actually hit the feint button to do it.

I only left For Honor due to the creators not making good original armor ideas to grind for. Every armor is a cheap copy of the original.. FOR EXPAMPLE!!! Adding spikes to a armor and renaming it as a different set of armor does not mean its new or worth the grind. Updates are trash basically, fun gameplay though.
