As the CEO of a company within the game I can tell you that it's one of those games where you also have to put money in if you want to be able to make money from it, if you don't have decent armour and decent guns with lots of ammo then you will not be making much money at all. My company so far has probably put in around £5000 to buy skill implants, guns and armour as well as a lot of ammo and we have more than earned that back and have used it to buy PC upgrades and things to make our real lives better.

hunting is not that bad. You probably were fighting horrible mobs. You could treat it as a standard mmo and drop $15 a month and be just fine. You get around 90% return just vendoring loot and if you hunt the right things then it gets closer to 100% return (without selling your skill points)

Like I said, I put in barely anything and had fun, same as someone who puts in $15 a month for Wow subscription. Except I have the option of selling everything including my skills and get some money back.

What's wild to me is the ONLY difference is that you can take the money out. People drop 1000s on games that you can't ever get the money back and no one bats an eye. But allow you to turn it back into USD and suddenly it's a huge issue

@@explodethebomb That's not gambling. The site CLEARLY states how the system works. Also, it's not even hard to make money without spending it in EU. Sure it's extremely time consuming but it's possible. Otherwise, there are countless guides to help you spend the typical sub amount and make profit off it. Gambling does NOT allow such to occur. You learn to count cards? You get kicked out for cheating. Not on EU. Y'all just coping because you've dropped hundreds or even thousands on an MMO with zero potential for return.

The idea of a game where you earn money for playing is enticing. The problem is that if it were what everyone thinks it is, everyone would do it and where would the money come from? In order for the game to be profitable, players have to put more money in than they take out. There have to be more losers than winners. I'm sure there's some guy who's been playing for free since launch, never put in a cent, and has made some money playing. But every cent he pulled out of the game came from somebody else putting it in without getting a return on that investment.

A big system he missed to explain, is where the money comes from :D Basically its about some "life force" you can sap from the NPC wildlife. If you start the process, they will attack you and interrupt you. So you need a group and it takes time etc etc (this is where people pay monthly instead of doing the grinding themself, and then there are players that get expensive items to bet on hunting runs...) Then plot owners need millions of those things. They need to invest it to have cooler stuff spawn on their property, and they can set a tax for loot collected on their land. Amd one thing he didnt mention, its insanely "Skill"-heavy... You have to train those skills for months before you can do anything good or fast. You cant buy a good weapon, without high enough skill it will just suck. So even endlevel players are still busy pushing the limits

@@MannIchFindKeinName He did touch on the way the economy works, just not in detail. The game doesn't, and logically CAN'T work the way one assumes "play to earn" would. You can't create an account, log in, play, and extract money from the system without putting any in. It's designed not to work like that.

It's so needed and so tedious to farm, old players regularly show up in newbie areas and buy it off of newer/poorer players. You can make some 10-15 bucks a month grinding like that, and it takes ages to get to the pay-out limit like that. And on basically every other activity you can lose money. Hell, even if you farm that life stuff, you will take damage, and healing equipment costs real money. If you dont wanna(/cant) buy that, you are left to stand around to do nothing constantly.

The no-money-in grind is so slow, boring and unprofitable you're better off getting an actual job. It is literally just unpaid labor because you'll never make enough to actually get paid out.

I started playing EU years ago when AUDs were created. I ended up spending over $10,000 USD on AUDs @ 50-60 PED each. I still have them to this day, and never actually played the game beyond the first area of the game really. I've made back about half of the investment since then, and if I sold all the AUDs, at last check I can get about 80 PED each from them, which would get close to trippling up my investment. But, it's important to note: *actually playing the game* was nothing I did.

Why the Japanese made turd polishing a business, I don't know, but they look pretty cool lol. Ah yes, skill based. The main word that separates it from gambling is dexterous. Meaning the odds are slightly more in favor to the clients. It's how "internet cafes" here in the states can have games like slots etc without being listed as a gambling business.

This is where game knowledge is more important than game skill. If you learn about the game, you will know what and when to sell stuff and make up the 5% with no problem.

I remember seeing this game as "Project Entropia" way back when I was like 8 years old or whatever and I thought it looked like the coolest thing ever. Still have never played it but I'm thinking I have to at least give it a spin just to say I did. It's just there's really a lack of coverage on it and it's hard to determine if it's worth my time at all if videos like this didn't exist to see what this game is up to years and years later.

You gotta check out old ass forums for guides^^ But the game also features a mentoring system, which gives the mentor skill points for being good. That should be used aswell, and you will always find someone willing (be careful tho, pirates and assholes exist) But one tip, something he missed to mention in the video, if you wanna play "properly" (=not lose too much money), you will be grinding your skills the first several weeks. Those early quests gave skillpoints for a reason. Otherwise, if you have a plan (which you should have!), its perfectly possible to play it and have some fun for normal MMO subscription fees (10-30$ monthly)

Rushing things will just lead you lose peds faster, as someone that played since 2004 I wished I played much slower and did less volatile stupid stuff. And Thanks for using my video in your video :D haha I am in the camp where entropia is not gambling, Skills are the basics. the better some certain skills are the better your returns will be playing the game, but also having a good head to know when and what to do is important... Such as that Global ticker that goes off that seems like a bother.. That is a tool to know what areas are popping off, such as an event you might not know about when alot of people start seeing "Shared Loot" Globals going off, there is something somewhere going on. It goes quite Deep. And Knowledge in game helps lead you to profitable activitys if your skills are in the right place. Hinch why you get rewarded in skills for completing missions its alot bigger of a deal than you might think. There is so much i can cover but thats why i made my own youtube channel lol. Entropia is a Gem of a game And the community is wonderful for the most part. It isnt just about money it is also about the quility of people that play the game. And Sure you can spend alot of money playing, but thats why i love it, its not like the other MMO's out there where once my money is spent its gone. if i play entropia and i do good i can take money out of the game... but i just keep reinvesting it in. there are investments that you can make for the long term in this game. And thats amazing... so much to learn about entropia that most people dont even want to look into, they just see the surface level of it. And Nope Out. But it is still free to play and even that is a totally different way to play. Good video bro.

Been playing it since 2000s. You go into the game to enjoy it and not worry about making money. Its a casino game basically. I spent 15-20 a month here and there and can get quite far and enjoy it. No different than paying sub fee in other MMOs. What you classify as fun i guess.

Modern gamers just don't understand when old gamers like myself tell them that gaming used to be completely different. They don't understand that kindness went far beyond just being simply nice to someone. It was also about being selfless and going out of your way to help others succeed. Back then in online games you might be someone they could count on for grouping up with and why would you say no to that? Then you pay it forward and help one or two people like you were helped. I was reminded of that in Everquest 2 recently after a bit of toxic people in games. I message the person about mercs that I didn't see though i could waypoint to them. Turns out my account may have old and outdated data because they didn't see it at all. Well that turned into them giving me some crafted armor and the legend gave me 2m plat. They probably could make that in at least a day though it was nice to give me so much for nothing. All because I had a question about mercenaries. Gaming back then was definitely something different and special.

The lag come from switching servers actually. The game is built on a large grid system with each square being it's on server instance or whatever. When flying to other planets in space you can actually use that to speed up the process. When you "lag" you know you've hopped to a new server cell and you can just suicide to pop up in the center of that cell at it's revive terminal. Doing that cuts interplanetary travel time in half lol. (don't do if you have droppable items though) Everyone in entropia is super nice in my experience. I played it a LOT 15 years ago lmao. Roctropia was fun with a city, rock n roll, and demons lol.

You used to be able to make a full time income in there, it has shrunk a lot since the noughties. As far as I remember the largest price for an in game object was in there at 100k usd - it was a space station that a team had spent a couple of years building. And sorry, there are loads of things that were better and more intuitive 20 years ago, little kids used to complain when things were updated.

played this a bit back in the day, someone crafted an item that according to the game which announces these things to the whole server, that was worth (to the vendors) $130k. it was an item that had 3 shots before it was destroyed and gone forever. I said to my guild "i'd cash out and quit playing" my guild leader said "people would pay way more for that" to which I obviously said "that's stupid" and she kicked me from the guild lol

I admit - I am an Entropia Addict. The game has 95% returns, we know this as gamblers. We just grind the rest of others :P . One thing they did well. (to keep the venezuelans out), very high learning curve, very steep (skillbased) road to a place where you can make money (so it costs a lot of investment before you can make money). What you and most fail to understand. The skillbased aspect they claim, really means: All the money you lose early on, is in your skills, as they have real value. They keep it overall on 95% and 5% goes to your skills, so they DO give the 100% back (unless you play like a monkey who can't get out of a car). But their profit is what you put in your skills, which will unlock higher skills that amplify loot etc. You can trade the skills, but rarely anyone does, hence they will retain a good profit. Why is MindArk no moneygrab, you say.. because unlike a real casino, they have a pretty poor profit margin. They desperately try to balance most out into the game. But because it is skillbased, you end up with a large % of players stopping the game with 500 dollar worth of skills and 250-1500 dollar worth of stuff, which in turn have a market (markup) value of almost double. It's complicated, but skillbased in entropia simply means, most profit (or play even) goes into your skills, not in PED returns.

I played this when it was Project Entropia. Calypso was the only planet, and you had to sweat bees for money (sweat was a respurce used to make fuel for paionic implants). I put in $20 and burned through it in 2 days because i hunted and my gun broke too much. So i quit.

I play Entropia regularly, free to play ways to make some ped is sweating and finding fruit and rocks that you can later sell, or you can resell items in auction… With small depo you can camp on some planet and do daily missions that reward you with some small rewards that makes your hunting break even or small profit… You are not gonna get rich by playing this game, but you can enjoy yourself and withdraw your money once you finish with game. I enjoy the game very much and i made couple hundred dollars by playing it so far. You just have to be smart or you gonna lose money, but what is the difference between playing monthly fee of 15$ or play game and lose 15$ dollars by playing it per month with a chance of making some money back…

With regards to the notification at the top of the screen, i've heard that some of them may not even be real, some of it's just setup by the devs to make it look like more people are winning than actually are to lure people in. Now i've never seen actual evidence of it, but it's certainly a tactic i can believe some of these companies use, i mean some of them have job postings for psychologists to monetize their game.

Helping new people in multiplayer games with long progression systems or complex mechanics is one of the most rewarding things you can do in those types of games IMO. For a game like this, also, which doesn't have a thriving player base relative to most MMO's and a controversial reputation, you don't want to turn off new players who looked past the controversy and tried it anyways. Even if you solo everything, nobody is going to keep paying server costs for a handful of people. Side note; what is the music playing around the 20:00 minute mark from? I know it's from a game I've played and now it's driving me nuts that I can't remember what it was.

31:00 I'm pretty sure you could farm up to a token in WoW to then sell for (I think around 12$) as a Blizzard Balance which you can then spend on the game or even purchase/spend in other games inside Blizzards launcher. (Though, you would need a subscription to realistically farm up that amount of ingame cash to sell) So to an extent you would have still needed to pay to get any real money out, but just not have paid any extra.

This game looks like it can be really good and fun if they overhaul the training and gameplay. More mobs, making it easier to understand different areas, clear and understandable objectives and smoother gameplay as well as collision detection. I would play this game, but it just seems outdated with a lack of direction and explanation on how to progress

I wish other MMO's would allow you to "Play to earn things". Usually I choose MMO's i intend to play for a very long time and if i could get this specific Elder Scrolls House or a cool outfit of Black Desert i would actually spend more time in it. The price tag you pay each month in most MMO's is just incredible if you wanna collect certain items which you know, not only cant you farm them, you might not see them for 4 years (ESO Housing)

The thing about Entropia and the reason why it is not Gambling, is for a few reasons. First, Gambling has to be something you put money into, which has a chance of making you lose that money. As example; Paying 12USD to spin a single Lootbox to then get the value of 0USD. Compared to when you pay 15USD to give yourself Ingame Money that can either be exchanged for the Real Life version (I.E Plex in Eve Online), or Function as a Mediator of real life currency which can be earned in-game, and outside of the game. By going with the "It all have a value, thus it is gambling." then World of Warcraft, which has bot farmers going for specific items, and even selling ingame gold, with Real Money would also be accounted as Gambling. Entropia follows the basis of Player Run Economy. Every item *has* a Value, but this Value change in a multitude of manners. Like example, lets say you make a guild, this guild gathers materials to make Ion Batteries, to then sell to players who use an Ion Energy weapon, this causes a variable on X and Y. First the X of the Price per Battery, as if Supply is High and the Demand is Low, then the price will go to its lowest point, meanwhile, when the Supply is running out, and the demand is still high, then the price goes to its exponential point. Now with Y is for the Weapons that use X for Supply. If they are few and far between, few people will try to get them, and makes the demand low by a default, but for the demand that exists, the only suppliers will try to strike a monopoly on the few instead of the many. It is the basic economical basis. And since all professions in some way, *can* make money without spending a dime (But this also is EXCRUSIATINGLY slow), it can't be accounted as Gambling, since all functions in a per basis rule. The players can spend 0 of their currency, and still get to a point where they can hunt, harvest, craft, to feed the machine. And for the question why you are only allowed to withdraw 1000P.E.D. has to do with Banking Taxes, every transaction the company has to pay a Tax, this is a Set amount, and not a per transaction fee (Like with Paypal they take what 4% of the transaction to convert the money), so having anything under 100USD, would cost them more, then they gain. So in a sense, they have a self rotating system, where people will invest money, that investment becomes what people can withdraw. And the part they take (Which if memory serves is 22%) will cover the conversion and taxation of the transaction. Basically making it so: You Pay for your Own gain in money. And how the program is setup, and yes, I will not call it a Game per say, since it is more about Economy than anything else. You create jobs, you make things happen, it is a Social Program focused on Economy and how the Systems Work, as in, Real Life Systems. It still is a MMO Massive Multiplayer Online, as that in on itself, is not a game, it can be for music, movies, for chatting and so on so forth. The MMO system, is basically, that a massive amount of people can access the Servers and Services in a Playable form, such as playing music or a movie, or more interactive parts such as games or audio visual books. Also Entropia has some systems in regards on high spenders, you can only spend a certain amount, before you have to show your Personal Identification Card, and even then you are extremely limited on how much money you can put into the game, per 3 months. Same as they have a system in that also checks on how much money you take out of the game, as a type of safe guard against husslers (People who scam and take money from others.). How effective the safe guard is: No clue, but in my time, I haven't really run into any scammers, but I am only one person, in a sea of many. So maybe there are. But I do know, you theoretically *can't* make yourself go bankrupt in the program. The main issue is that people only look at it from a superficial state, and never look into the small details, as it reflects also reality. This is not a game to be played as Everquest, Ragnarok Online, WoW, LoL or such, it is to be played as an Actual Job. Like example; someone makes a business on making healing items, calls it MacBig's Rigging Pharmacy, the owner then hires workers, and spreads them out to do the works. They get a agreed payment per month, while also having a division of those crafting, and those harvesting, a set amount is put for the harvesters, and the crafters, while the rest goes to the Owner. In this manner, they have made Jobs, that Require specific skills and professions to work. And if they can earn more PED than they spend per month, they have essentially made a Real Life Company with less steps. As in the Real World, making a Pharmaceutical Company is nearly impossible today, not only do you need to get contracts to make certain medications, but you need doctors, scientists, government, and public support to even make an upstart company. Not to mention the mound of Chemical, Bacterial and Virologic Experts needed. But that is the course, it is more a Simulation, rather than a Game. And you *can* survive and earn real life money from it without putting anything into it. But it will be hard, since you have to either understand the Hunting System, where you have to go after the mobs that can drop those High Earning items, which is a low drop rate by itself (As in any loot drop table game really). Or you have to understand the Social Economical State, like a Stockmarket for X item you can gather, to support those who demand them. Or go into the crafting and find ways to provide services that you might be willing to give for lower, or even for free, just to get good reputation with example hunters. The Possibilities are not endless, but they are not exactly limited either. So it can't be seen as a gambling game. Even though some will still do so. But unlike EA's Fifa games where the trading cards is literally gambling, some of those cards can be sold for literally 1k+USD. Entropia relies on understanding, and Entropy (Gradual Decline which *can* spike and grow. But there is always that slow gradual decline, which feeds the machine, but again 0 currency has to be paid for it.)

As a long time player I would just say that there are some activities in the game that are on the gambley side, but there is skill involved too. Knowing where to hunt, knowing where good loot drops, knowing the best ways to sell it, knowing what dangers to avoid, most of the skill is really knowledge-based, it's not necessarily agility twitch skill.

Still haven't found an MMO with a better monetization model than OSRS. Just the fact that the two models don't mix, having separate free and members servers, is something pretty much unheard of and extremely appealing. The free version basically being an extended demo (with some skills, areas, quests, items etc. unavailable) that you can still spend months and months playing, maxing all the free skills and stuff before ever jumping into membership, which is possible to buy with in-game currency - another rare possibility, that I've personally only encountered in EVE online before, though I'm sure some others have at least that as well.

The point of the money withdrawal rules and the 50 days is to prevent money laundering though the game. And yes that's a thing terrorists, drug king pins, etc do. These withdrawal fees and rules are there because the alternative is actually illegal. There is probably a police check happening under the hood too. The transaction fee is the value of the free stuff you got early in the game. The total value of your loot, ammo, gear, clothing and buildings etc does not change over time. Some are hidden for a while as wear and other non obvious values. There are reputational, luck and social 'value' sitting in your account that can raise and lower and convert to bonus drops. When you get a 10000 PED drop you have expended 10000 PED in stuff, ammo, repairs etc. If you had a 100 PED account it will be a long time before the hidden values get back to the big drop point.

This game is basically real life in skill, if your trying to do things not even in your scope of game skill progression your going to lose. Im so profitable because of my focus of hunting and knowing how my hunting works, i get no hofs but minis. As we speak i been running through 1k uni ammo, so far in total i have 1.2k ped in total including uni;shrap and drops while still having 300+ped to shoot and not done my first cycle

IMO Entropia could have done better if their RMT system had been based on token goods, like the WoW Token or EVE's PLEX. just let people convert cash into tokens, use those tokens for important services in the game apart of selling them on the ingame market for ingame currency and maybe have a small tax when converting it back to real money.

The game is designed around a 8% loss rate that lowers the higher your skills go up. So if you hunt $100, you should come out with $92. This isn't always the case but that's the actual math. Not some 1000% nonsense.
