What a terribly frightening story! Father & son monsters. I hope parents understand that their attitudes and actions are always watched by their own children as soon as they are born. You hope *parents* understand....? That would not have helped at all in this case, since Robert's father bragged about all the evil his son had done, and murdered folks on his own. I remember this. My gran lived across from the school. I used to go to her place after my own school. There were a lot of blue flashing lights. Later on we learned what happened. Five years later I attended that school. I've been in the room where it all happened. Although the incident wasn't generally talked about, one of the teachers was of the opinion that Mone was sane because he had hidden the gun, and deserved to have been hanged.

The State hospital is only 20 mins from where I live. The police man they killed was friends with my father and years later I was at school with his son. The night this happened my dad was driving the local bus. On his last trip into Lanark. , Mone and mcculoch stepped from the trees and tried to stop his bus. Due to dad having seen all the police cars heading towards Carstairs he didn't stop the bus. It was the next morning he realised who had been trying to stop the bus. Years later I came across Mone in a local prison when I was a student nurse. Mone was liberated from prison I the late 20 17 or early 2p20's. He was aloud change his name So he could be living next door to any of us Another 1 from the state hospital you might like to look into is a man named Gregory mcgurk... He has also been released and aloud to change his name. Both him and mone will almost certainly be what bi's referred to as MAPPA PATIENTS BUT no system is completely safe. I think the son never stood a chance with a father like that. He never knew what a normal childhood was. In my opinion, the son’s spiral to crime was totally preventable, if he had a different upbringing. His frequent mentions of feeling utterly worthless and powerless is what seems to have driven his insane decision making. Shame, but as an adult he really should have made better choices. RIP to his victims.
@annied1827
@annied1827 Жыл бұрын
I actually hate it when people use a bad childhood as an excuse for taking someone's life, I'm sorry, but many many people myself included had crappy childhoods, but we don't go around killing people. I don't care how bad their childhood was that doesn't give them an😂 excuse to go and kill people, and i dont think people should actually give a crappy childhood as a excuse for them killing someone one. These peohave a mental illness or they are just awful people and I think they would have done it regardless of what childhood they have so people need to stop using it as a excuse besides his siblings had the same crappy childhood yet they didnt go and kill people!! 🤔
@nicolew4877
@nicolew4877 Жыл бұрын
@@annied1827 There’s a difference between an excuse and an explanation. An excuse would be “absolutely nothing is his fault because he had a crappy childhood”. An explanation is “this could have been avoided, and he probably would have had a different life if his father wasn’t a psycho”. Unfortunately a vast majority of killers have had their childhoods completely obliterated by their parents, and this link is hard to ignore. I still think he deserved the life sentence or even worse, but I can’t help but wonder what a good father’s upbringing and guidance could have achieved.
@annied1827
@annied1827 Жыл бұрын
@Nicole W personally I think he would have done it regardless and even with a great childhood just like many other seriel killers have. Afterall there are many seriel killers who have great loving parents and great childhoods yet they still decide to go and kill people, I think it has more to do with who they are and the kind of person they are regardless I it's mental illness or they are just plain evil what ever reason they have I think it has nothing to do with how they are raised as I said his siblings had the exact same childhood yet they didn't go on to kill people and many people including myself have had very crappy childhoods yet we don't go and kill people.

I recently watched a video by a former 10 yr inmate at a US state prison. He went through some of the sentences from recent trials and gave his thoughts on how the individual would do in prison. So it was interesting in your video to learn that a fellow prisoner killed the obnoxious father. The KZbinr stated that at a certain point, people in prison just want to do their time and not be bothered by those who make it hard for everyone else and it's no surprise when those people get killed. People think that people convicted of crimes like child molesting will have a hard time, but they forget that the prison is filled with people who've done terrible things. If you behave yourself, you're likely to be alright. If you cause problems for the other inmates or are just a difficult person, you may not do so well.

They both have those trademark “crazy eyes!” It once again poses that eternal question- nature or nurture… I think in this case ir was both. The sin seems to have more of a sense of learning intelligence on his side, since he did study and made progress in those arenas. But part of him was just a rotten apple fallen from his fathers tree. But the fact is, psychopaths have _completely disproportionate_ levels of entitlement and pettiness, and can erupt into violent rage over (what may appear to others as) very minor slights. Such a lot of sad fates in these stories, and so many wasted lives, even if you are a master in describing them... (you should consider working as a narrator for Audiobooks, I'd love listening to them, so many great talents on KZbin.) And BTW: "IHS" Is a Christian acronym, meaning (according to Wikipedia): ΙΗΣΟΥΣ ΗΜΕΤΕΡΟΣ ΣΩΤΗΡ, Iēsous Hēmeteros Sōtēr, *'Jesus our Saviour'* or in Latin *Jesus Hominum (or Hierosolymae) Salvator*. It's a bit like the black metal people, wearing upside-down crosses, claiming it to be "Satanist", but it's actually a Peter Cross, and a symbol of deep humility, when Peter didn't feel worthy to die like his Savior and Lord. Edit: Also the pentagram is actually a symbol of the 5 wounds of Christ.

Surprised I don’t remember hearing my Mum talking about this. She was a teacher not too far away from Dundee at the time. She was a working class Birmingham girl so no sheltered flower but she was shocked at some of the things the teachers got away with in Scotland especially the older male ones. There wasn’t much educating going on a lot of the time.

"Like father, like son" is an old adage that proved to be true in this case. It's hard for any right-thinking person to fathom a father who was jealous and yet proud of his son for murdering people, even including a pregnant woman and a police officer. The prisoner who stabbed Sonny to death should have gotten early release in gratitude of getting rid of a brutal, cold-blooded killer. I guess the only good thing you can take away from this story is most of us don't come from families this bad, thank God.

truthfully, i doubt even satan would say he knew the man. every time his picture came up, it made my stomache curdle... just a really nasty piece of work. even with our dear Mr. Brodie telling us about him, it was a struggle to watch the whole video. and i do enjoy Mr. Brodie's lovely voice and demeaner.

Well, there's another great video in the books... COMPLETE with another case study I wasn't aware of... I WOULD like to know the courts martial case he seemed to be a part of. Those charges and dismissals might tell us quite a bit about his thinking, particularly in regards to "Being punished for doing what he thought was the right thing." AND don't get me wrong, just being a courts martial, the charges were PROBABLY pretty egregious, but from the sounds of it, his unit at the time seemed to hold a grudge. In the military a unit is liable to take a certain amount of guff for a leader, and even more for a good one or one that is well liked. AND to be clear, there are a few charges in the UCMJ that might give plentiful latitude for dismissal but are usually relatively small in their actual consequences and ramifications... SO it's possible that the whole thing could've been "blown out of proportion"... AND it's similarly possible that there were more in his unit involved than he'd originally thought, and they resented him for messing their situation up as well... The reality is that once you've turned evidence in against ANY PART of your own unit, the military has LONG had a habit of moving you someplace else FOR YOUR OWN PROTECTION, and that's NOT a punishment. They know how this sort of thing works, just like they know about hazing sticking around after its been banned. Finally, it's just worth mention that "Schizophrenia" hasn't always carried the clinical definition it has today. That's only one among MANY points where people see the whole of psychology as less than science, because it's so subject to so many changes over time... Ah... well... That's my thinking on the matter. ;o)

When Robert was little, his mother had no chance to divorce the father and get custody of the children; it waa not done. Ir was obviously an extreme case of domestic violence. She was able to escape, but the children were trapped.
