Next time you're in the shower put the washcloth over your face, stare directly into the stream and try taking a full breath. Any attempt to breathe create a suction effect across the entire cloth and it tightens around your face. It's kind of unbelievable how instantaneously it triggers a state of panic. Now imagine you have zero control, the people in control are people who have been abusing and humiliating you for months (years?) on end and hey're only concerned about keeping you alive so far as it'd be a personal inconvenience for them.

@@saladtnogs There are methods to limit the harm of being waterboarded. However, to do so takes a lot of training and discipline. Special Forces anti-torture training is to hold your breath while they are pouring the water, and then quickly exhale in quick breaths to expel the water on the cloth in order to breathe before next pour. However, good luck actually doing that in the moment...

I think Kyle skimmed over the musical torture a bit. Like he said, they used the Barney theme song, but also used the Meow Mix theme, which was just a woman loudly saying MEOW! in tune with a basic piano melody. Now add this to all the other tortures they endure, while factoring in that these musical tortures were played at deafening levels, 24/7, endlessly. The CIA are like equal parts creative, ruthless, and effective.
