The most honest review of Cartagena ever, well done! I was there for the first time in 1991 and lived on the coast for several years until 2002. When I went back in 2014 it had changed completely. I still like Cartagena but it turned into one big tourist trap….

Thank you, I fully agree that the disparity of the haves and have nots is extreme and missed by most people. One thing I think you forgot to mention and almost all vloggers and tourists miss is how great Colombian music is, especially Colombian salsa. One bit of good news I hear from local friends is the new mayor has clamped down on the grossness happening around the clock tower. They are sick of it!! Hope you’re doing great in colombia!

I love Cartagena, its true about the beaches there, so we end it up in a hotel in Baru island with private beach, gorgeous. Anyway 100% recommended.

Cartagena looks beautiful but I would have an issue with all the people that would follow you to try and self you something, I would also have a huge issue with someone freely touching me to try and give me a massage, I don’t like getting touched by people in my family, I would flip out if a stranger started touching me!

i love your videos even i have already watch the most of your videos:)). my favourite it was this one and you said the same that i think about Cartagena the only thing that i didn't get it was when you said sex tourism when i wa sin la heroica i didn't see hundred of women waiting i just saw like 4 or 5 but no more but yep i love your videos you cheer me up when i'm feeling down:). finally i want to recommend you to travel to boyaca especially raquira it's like a colorful town that it's full of culture and you should make a video talking about bogota like talking about the insecurity about places that you have to avoid like south of bogota because always when you search images of bogota always you see high buildings but you go further you find poverty and that is what i don't like of colombia the same happens to cartagena when i just arrived to that place there weren't buildings and i was like is this for real but it's the same like bogota i think:). but yeah Awesome video man, love this channel.i really enjoyed your videos i always recommend them to people who is gonna travel! and i have a question for ya what is th eplace you've been in colombia?

Went to Colombia (Medellin for 4 days and Cartagena for 3,5) late december 2019 and first week of january 2020. Came to the same conclusion quite fast that Cartagena is a nice place to see, especially for the 1 st time, but longer then 2 days is to long. Afterwards is always easy but i was like i should have spend more days in Medellin. And i thought i was used to people trying to sell stuff, but in Cartagena were on another level and extremely annoying. Maybe partly because of the time of year there were not as many tourist as usual and because of the fact im a huge Dutch guy i was easy to spot from across the city as a tourist. But still soooo annoying, even when wearing sunglasses, not looking at them, didnt stop and kept walking, not even saying anything or letting u know i know u exist, still they keep on. Even if its 4 in a row, right next to each other, and i have clearly said no to the first 3 number 4 still tries........ But when possible i am going to go back to Colombia and see more

Cartagena is a pretty beautiful and amazing place. In terms of "must visit cities", I would say that Bogota and Cartagena should be at the top of your list. The Caribbean coast is generally a bit more expensive than the interior. In terms of Cartagena being "too touristy", well that's relative.

Some of your comments rub me the wrong way. You call yourself “Colombiafrank” but honestly it seems you dislike a lot of things Colombians do. I know it’s annoying having them offer you things on the street constantly but for some of them that’s they only source of income to provide to their families. Colombians understand and respect that, and you should as well as a visitor of a foreign country. You also mentioned you get bored in Cartagena as there are only a few things to do yet you mentioned yourself you’ve gone 7+ times, why do you keep going then? It’s the toxicity of some of your comments for me 🙃

Thx for your comment. I am actually not a visitor, I am part of the country since 6 years. My comments go deeper and maybe you did not get the whole context, sorry about that. But Cartagena offers itself as a luxury tourist destination and it can. But think of somebody paying usd 2,000 a night and then not having peace nowhere on the streets, this will just not work and shy good paying tourism away. I am a believer of sustainable tourism and I believe this is the best way to get people jobs and incomes but it needs to be done the right way.
