Just an opinion. Foreigners bring in something new and different which we can adopt or ignore. Pick the good,kick the bad. Simple as that. Just saying. 🤙🏾

No. Foreigners do not replacing filipino's, instead filipino's are welcoming foreigners.

In a give-and-take scenario, the OFWs are all over the world, and the local Pinoys should also be welcoming to foreigners.

Good point 💯🤙

Difference is that OFWs have no purchasing power when they go abroad, when foreigners go to the Philippines, they drive prices up because of their stronger purchasing power.

I would rather foreigners gentrify provinces than cities because in the province, well-off local-born landed gentry owners don't engage in entrepreneurship, but land speculation and landlordism, so the 1987 Constitution needs to be amended to permit well-intentioned foreigners to own businesses with 100% (no need to find for for Filipino business partners) and buy and own residential lands for all-year round habitation.
@JoeyZee-vs4krАй бұрын
Ngek. China will buy all the lands if you allow it. 😊

Gentrification has always been the ugly trade-off when tourists and expats call a country their second home. Rising rents, uncontrolled development, displacement of locals, and rising prices are just some of the adverse effects. We've seen that in Portugal, Spain, Italy and other countries with a huge tourism turnover that locals are now pushing back as infrastructures can't seem to keep up. The biggest danger is a property bubble. The Philippines should spread out the development to other lesser-known spots through infrastructure development.

When i traveled to Boracay i checked in to Movenpick Resort. Going towards that area i have seen locals camping out on the side of the road. I was told they were driven out of their land and their homes were demolished to build a new resort.

Corrupt politicians and gentrifications without regards to the natives are bad. Without feasibility studies which are often bypass because of political corruptions would be bad for the environment and the people! It does not take into account whether the local infrastructure can support such a progress (garbage, sewer, electricity and fresh water) or the negative effect it has to the environment (wilderness).

The same claims, arguments and debates here in new Zealand and Australia. Displacement of the native, inequality etc blah blah blah. But, but reality always bites and it hurts. We(as in all of us) must not forget that the ultimate goal of life is to survive. Human, animal, plan life etc must survive! To preserve all species! So the idea of survival is the ultimate model of all walks and activities in life. May it be preservation(of life itself), business and weath, eduction(civilization), relationships, family perpetuation and even leadership(both monarchy and politics)! There’s no such thing specially nowadays that “benefits for everyone or equality?” nah it won’t happened mate! It’s an impossible dream! John Lenon already wrote a beautiful song about this “imagine” but nature has its own way of making things happened. Right Nelly? That’s why on a personal level, we not must rely on the system, the political leaders or anyone in power, even our parents or anyone else! We must do our personal work the hard way, because this is how life works! And the rule of survival is, the more you are brave, courageous and aggressive in facing challenges, the more chances of survival, of achieving, of winning so on and so forth! The weak will die in the process sad to say. So to me being as an activist, I’ve learned something by looking at this lens and developed my own perspective in life. Life is too short to whine, time wasting by entertaining this kind of ideas/mind set that could only & potentially add miseries and struggles in living. All of us must always go back to this basic wisdom at the beginning of creation, let’s bear and share this paradigm. The winner takes it all, the loser down to fall… Enjoy the warm weather Nelly, still very cold here down under grrr…

Very long, but ultimately inane comment!

Well said! I think it's in everybody's responsibility to teach the following generations and spread awareness on how important it is to preserve culture and nature. I have traveled to many countries and I have always been most fascinated of those, that are more preserved 🫶🏼
