I’m Israeli. I’ve always been roughly centrist with lean to right in recent years. I have lefty friends. All of them without exception criticize Netanyahu for not having gone harder and faster this past year. Not ignoring the Americans more. Not dealing with Hezbollah sooner. Even when they supported a deal up until a month ago, it was in their mind because Netanyahu was too weak and cowardly and this is dragging on for too long - so now we have to make a deal. They say any thought of a two state solution should be postponed for 30 years. Again - these are lefties. That left seen on global media at times calling for a cease fire and surrender since month 2 of this war are a tiny and insignificant minority. The old peace camp Israeli left has effectively ceased to exist.

VDH makes me hopeful for peace in the Middle East and the world. I came out of the New Left and then the revolutionary left, but would never have contemplated supporting a death-cult such as Hamas and Hezbollah. The terms socialist and communist have always been problematic, particularly since the rise of Stalinism and later Maoism (Sinofied Stalinism), but today's progressive left has descended even further into those brutal ideological strains by attacking Enlightenment principles which elevate human freedom and ordered civilization above chaos and barbarism.

Yes, but think about the basic principle of the criminal Communist doctrine: any barbaric act is justifyed for the sake of the Party. Mothers killed their sons, their parents, Stalin starved to death 30 M people. There are no morals when it comes to socialism, which is really Communism coated with saccharine. Hamas-Hezbollah are just different versions, but not too distant.
