The binding videos seem to generate a lot of interest. Binding really classes up a guitar body but is also something that discourages a lot of builders. Hell, Gibson charges and extra thousand bucks for it!
Okay, here is the tricky part… how do you actually glue this stuff to the guitar?
This is the easiest technique we have found… it’s so easy it might surprise you
In some of our latest videos I showed y’all how to cut the little slot for binding and fitting said binding to the body. I wasn’t going to do another video about attaching the binding, but I got so many comments wishing I would that I decided to deep dive into the subject.
Stop reading and start watching, it’s easy and fun!

Great video! The old Stew Mac binding glue (SIgMent?) was just OK, not great. The more recent "Bind-All" is the most incredible binding glue I've ever come across - it works on everything I've tried. You've obviously proven acetone works with Stew Mac ABS, but I'd recommend a scrap test before using acetone on other plastics.

Cut some 1" pieces from each and did some tests on different pieces of scrap wood. Pine, maple, oak, mahogany, walnut and teak. Using your method here to attach bindings works like a charm. Had no issues with getting any of to adhere to these different woods. Thanks a bunch for the great tip!!!! It goes without saying that you won me over and I've subscribed to your channel. New builds, acetone is the go to…. Otherwise if you are dealing with a finish that is alcohol based (shellac) then acetone will likely dissolve before causing any issues, but lacquer will melt, it will certainly soften poly urethane and other water based ones will coagulate on you……or at least I’ve had the privilege of learning this on really early repairs……CA or cement is good for those.

I wish I never saw this video, it has set me back an entire day at minimum. The acetone wicks up anywhere you tape and melts the glue into the wood. I just went to stain my guitar and literally everywhere I had tape is not taking stain properly, patches everywhere. I’m using standard green frog tape. Just glue and tape as you go, don’t risk this method. I am yet to sand it back down so I don’t know yet if the stain job will yet be salvageable, either way, taking a two horn carve top of flame maple all the way back down to 120 is no quick job.
