I have a pair and I can assure you they are a 100% more premium! It’s absolutely 100% leather, everything you see and touch is leather. It’s no veg tan of course but super soft and good quality shoe leather! Also the Box you get with them is like a Gucci Box or so, super high quality and you really just want to put them on your shelve! I’ve had them for about 2,5 years already! They didn’t wear out at all and if you clean them once every while you will have them for years! And ive not always cared about them while wearing too much! I would buy them again immediately especially when they are on sale like I got mine for 110€ (otherwise 180€) If you like the really classic Stan smith shape and don’t want to spend like 400 bucks on some Italian shoes, go for them they are great!

I think I've had three pairs of these in my life, going back to the eighties -- always the ones with the green heel tabs. There are two solid classic adidas designs in tennis shoes. The Stan Smiths and the Rod Lavers. As much as I understand the white sneaker trend (they look great), the green accents on the Smiths and Lavers are the distinctive markers. Seeing this shoe without the green was weird. Anyhoo, I'm glad you carved these up. Always wondered what they were like inside. @@LSHD_ Stan Smiths are cheaply made, nowadays they're not even made out real leather, they use synthetic leather for the newer models and are overpriced for what you're getting. Reebok Club C, Nike Air Force 1, Van's Old Skool, Puma Suede give you more value for what you're paying in my opinion. The old Stan Smiths were great, today you're paying for brand name recognition to basically wear plastic shoes.
@LSHD_2 жыл бұрын
@@swordsaver that may be. But consumers aren’t interested in “value for money” in the terms you are describing. Their “value for money” is about the initial price point. Also Stan Smiths aren’t necessarily “over priced”. A pair here was purchased for under £45 with Adidas discount made it less. I highly doubt the others you’ve mentioned are “affordable quality”. Even then, there is the choice of consumers choice of design. Not all 35+ can rock a Nike Air Force, Vans, reeboks. Unless you’re of a particular demographic.

@@LSHD_ You do realize that Stan Smiths aren't exactly cheap in every location? They can cost upwards to $130 dollars Canadian where I live. Couple points I would like to add. The leather might be a top grain but it is also still likely a split, likely the grain was taken off for other uses that that require a thinner full grain leather leaving behind a bit of the grain for this leather. I love Stan Smiths. Currently own 3 pairs and planning on buying a few more. They're probably the most comfortable sneakers that I've ever worn

“Leather dad”? Did Tobias Fünke come up with that name?

thank you so much, i've been waiting for a video on stan smiths for a long time. Would also like to see a vid on Camper shoes.

as of 2023, all Stan Smith not "premium" version get a downgrade to plastic leather. I got a pair with velcro strap, they make squeaky sound everytimes i walk. i miss the 90s All Smith

I love and hate this channel because I’ve looked at boots/sneakers in a whole new light with a whole new lense! You should definitely do a review of the From The First boots!!!

It's a shame they are made with 100% plastic now, even though they were already cutting corners on the shoe for a long time. I'd love a pair of Stans that could last a few years rather than a few months, guess I gotta go to Oliver Cabell for that now

After watching this I've been getting ads for the Smiths for $52, not bad except it's summer and your other video convinced me to go with some Birks. Leatherdad to the rescue

I’m waiting for the Air Force 1, I used to love stan smiths but for me, they went as fast as they came, now I don’t really want a pair

There are 2 types of stan smiths, the padded tongue (shit quality) and the unpadded tongue( a bit better)
@martinquinonez19354 жыл бұрын
the same name? or how find them? this padded tongue dont deserve de 80$ price tag
@wikkidize4 жыл бұрын
@@martinquinonez1935 most stores have them, like endclothing, you just have to look at the tongue, they also go on sale often and you can get them for 60-70.

Right, its unpadded but felt so smooth on our feet

Loved the video but when you say they might not last as long, I've had a couple of pairs of Stan Smith's and both pairs have lasted well over a year with me wearing them everyday near enough for 5-8 hours a day. Even then the only issue was the shows not looking great, I never really cleaned them and the sole started to come away from the uppers, which could be fixed easily. So I say the last a good while, especially for the price

Do a review of the new synthetic Stan Smiths.. throw them in a fire and watch them melt. They are garbage. Miss the leather Stans.

I just got my first pair of Stans yesterday. Got the leather lined recon model. I’m liking them so far.
