What people need to understand about Forever After is that. 1. They weren't going for comedy, they were going for a strong, dramatic conclusion. 2. Yes, what Shrek said to Fiona was harsh, but come on. Everyone says things they don't mean when they're that upset.

And 3: It's a story about appreciating what you have, so naturally he would say what he says before he comes to learn his lesson later. Heck, he only admits he had it good when he realizes it's not coming back. After the Alternate Universe's Fiona wipes his kiss away in disgust over not loving him at all.

Yeah but making a serious Shrek movie kinda defeats the point of it. It’s supposed to be a spoof on fairy tale stories, and is strictly comedic rather than dark. It’s like if a 4th Austin Powers movie came out and tried to have a genuinely captivating story. It’s weird.

@@SmoothTurtle840 Which is also a valid point. Shrek IS a comically goofy film about a gross ogre who finds love and is friends with an annoying, talking Donkey. But, they did what they did with the final movie, n' as much as most of us would prefer Shrek Forever After was a comical movie and not some overly serious type, it wasn't. But hey, at least most if not all of us can agree Shrek 1 and 2 were pretty good, right?

29:14 counterpoint, Shrek didn’t have the best upbringing or role model. He even still mentioned how his father tried devouring him and never really wanted him. In the original script it was even written into his character that he didn’t end things well with him parents before leaving home, part of why he lived in seclusion.

Even more when you notice some of the patterns on the armor of the skeletal knights in the castle, or how the armor Shrek wears apparently has another set or similar set in Far Far Away’s castle, implying the King and Queen had tried sending knights to free her prematurely.

When I was younger, the 3rd was my favorite. I have course now have chosen the CORRECT answer in 2 (although the "somebody better be dying" thing still gets me and I'm not ashamed of it.) One thing I LOVE in that movie that not many talk about is the soundtrack. Everyone knows I need a hero, but every single other track is great and it's one of my favorite soundtracks in a movie ever.

The first film was great The 2nd film was a masterpiece The 3rd film was a gigantic step backwards from the first 2 And The 4th film was underrated and I don’t think it’s as bad as people make it out to be

As someone who grew up with these, I'm more willing to defend the 3rd, especially after playing the game. Yeah, it's bad, but there is a silver lining. Forever after felt a bit... Rushed to me. It's not bad, but it's definitely not their best effort.

The pepperspray and police brutality joke, the before and after photos of the Uncle Step Sister who became friends with Shrek showing they were indeed a man, but their wish was corrupted by the fairy godmother for not fulfilling the deal, swears, etc.

When it comes to Shrek 4ever i’ve always said that I felt Rumpelstiltskin did Shrek a huge favor. Because once everything snapped back to normal it’s after his ogre roar. And not after what he said to Fiona. Because it felt like such a harsh thing for him to say that it might’ve hurt his relationship.

Nate, my thoughts on the King Harold dying in the third shrek movie went something like this: “So we’re just gonna ignore the fact that in the Kingdom of Far Far Away where magical potions along with other things like Fairies and Wishes exist there’s not one known cure to turn Harold back from a frog to a human being again???

It wasn’t even the frog aspect killing him, it was his old age. Could they have done some whole “potion of rejuvenation” thing? Probably, maybe, idk. But would we really want some “quest for a potion of youth” film? Now admittedly there could actually be a way to do it properly, but that is a very precise window to hit.

I had a funny experience one of the times I saw Airplaine. My dad had shown it to me once prior to this incident so I was well aware of the film when my GIRL SCOUT LEADER thought it would be a fun movie to watch during a troop slumber party. She was fooled by the PG rating and either she had never seen the film or she forgot about the content. My troop was filled with teenagers so it wasn’t insanely risqué for us to watch it but our troop leader was mortified that she picked that movie without checking the content first. 😂

The Nightmare in the third was honestly to be expected, Shrek had the thought and anxiety of being a dad and I understand it's going to warp everything including faces but that's just how I feel, I also was really ecstatic at the concept of a High School in this universe.

IMO, they could've done Shrek 3 & 4 combine. Have the 3 main enemies be Prince Charming, Rumple Stiltskin, & a returning Fairy Godmother. The movie starts off as Shrek 3, but when Charming is crying in the alley, Rumple walks up to him & offers him a way to resurrect Fairy Godmother in exchange for help to take over Far Far Away. They all then recruit thr Fairy tale villains, as well as the witches & Pied Piper from Shrek 4. Halfway in the movie, Rumple tricks Shrek, knocks him out, & the events of Shrek 4 happen, but it's all an illusion. After Shrek finally wakes up, he takes the fight to Far Far Away, & enlists the help of Merlin, Arthur, the ogres that are hiding in a forest, & the rest of Worcestershire Academy students in a goofy fighting montage like in Shrek 2. At the end, Shrek takes the throne, he gets help from his friends & family, & 9 months later, the triplets are born

The first film of Shrek for me was awesome because it felt like all the jokes in story clicked! Shrek two was one of my favorites growing up watching, they had a banger of music in that film, and it was just as funny as it was the first film. The third was not what I had expected, AT ALL. The tone in the very beginning was too slow for people wanting to hop back into the franchise. It's not bad just slow. The fourth should have spent some time developing jokes rather another slow and boring story. It's not bad...again just slow.

I think it would be interesting if they do a Live Action Shrek Film (David Harbour could play as Shrek and Will Smith should play as Donkey) and I think they should make it as almost a Dark Take (with some jokes in it of course because of Donkey) and I think you can make Lord Farquaad as more Evil Person on The Planet (like maybe that even though Shrek is a Giant Ogre Creature Farquaad is more as a Monster than Shrek)
