The Shrimp Jungle: NEW Tank Setup for Neocaridina Shrimp (Step By Step Aquascape Tutorial)

This is my new shrimp tank setup for neocaridina shrimp with UGF filter. A really stunning design that includes a large plant selection. I’ve not done this method on my channel before and I’m very pleased with the end result. It’s going to look more beautiful in a few months when the plants have grown a bit more. Can’t wait!

I only have 1 colony of shrimp, and they're Neocaridina. I use a sponge filter and a Hang on Back filter. I use the Hang on Back for Purigen and Bio Rings and a polishing pad. I like the idea of using a UGF box for the chemical filtration, but my shrimp really like grazing on the sponge filter, and I would hate to take that away from them. But it would be nice to only have 1 filter for the tank.

Is it ok to do crushed lava on bottom, amazonia ver 2 over it, amazinia soil powder over that and cap it all with ada plata or maybe fine gravel? for amano shrimps and few cherry barbs only!

How many hours you use light in your aquariums...? Fissidium in my fav and its growing 🎉soo well and never seen as beautiful in your tank without Algae. Ultimate ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

Hi Nice video! I’ve set up at tank for neocaridina shrimps but made the mistake of using fluval stratum as substrate. My ph is around 6.5, kH is 0 and gH is 4 I have bloody mary shrimps in there and they are doing fine so far. Do you have any recommendation on how to raise the kH and gH safely without getting rid of the substrate? I want to get the right conditions for them to breed Thanks

Cheers mate! Sure you have to remineralize your RO water with any GH+ remineralizers first, salty shrimp gh+ for instants or any other brand. Make sure your Gh is at around 5-6 and It's better to use aqua soil in your setups to get ph close to 6 and you're good to go. Make sure you cycle and mature your tank first, you can put some fish for a few weeks also works to build up beneficial bacteria. Moss would help to increase babies survival rate. That's the basics to start with crystals if you manage to maintain stable parameters they'll breed faster than your cherries believe me😊

Thanks for another great video! A bit of a different question: do you have any advice as to where I can get copepods to help with my tank's ecosystem? I only have one Caridina tank which I started 12+ weeks ago. It's fully cycled now, but I've not managed to get any copepods as yet. I used Qualdrop Multi powder, and tried using BacterAE, but still no copepods, which I'd like to have a good population of before I introduce the shrimp. Sadly I couldn't afford the powder from Shrimps Affair which seems to produce loads of copepods! Thanks again and hope you're well!

I believe that bacterial powder is only a food source for copepods and they come in the tank with the soil or plants they even can come from air. It might take a few months to see them in your tank and your shrimp would be OK without copepods don't worry about that

I stopped dozing liquid fertilizers since I added shrimp in the tank. The plants growing very well without fertilizers

And it's seem that you don't have lot of algae during the first weeks, did you run the light at a really low level or do you have some tips to reduce amount of algae ? Or maybe you have clean the tank and don't show it in the video ? It's seem that you use a powerful light, but really small amount of algae.
