Thank you, so much. Your insights are uplifting. It is not always clear when one studies her scriptures. Having resources, like this, adds and clarifies many things I have not understood in the pass. I am a firm believer that we can understand the 'mysteries of God.' And that we can understand all his mysteries if we apply ourselves in study.

Great panel discussion and very informative! I would like to comment on some points. Yes the Temple was destroyed a 'generation' after Jesus or less than 40 years, however we have to consider that there was a time that the Apostles needed to do their work and the Church had to grow. When the rebellion was forming in 65 AD onwards, the Christians and their associates would have left the city and headed north west towards the enclaves of other believers in Syria and Lebanon. They may have even evacuated the Galilee cities although historians are not sure if Capernaum, Chorazin and Bethsaida were destroyed at the same time as 70AD, but certainly all Christians had left those cities sometime between the two revolts. Lot obtained a promise to spare his own cities if they could find 10 righteous. They also disappeared People have been told that the Lord's return was imminent and at he doors for almost 200 years. As referred to here in this discussion, perhaps people would act differently if they knew the exact time of the Lord's return and perhaps waste their entire lives if they were told the Lord would not return during their lifetimes? I recall listening to President Joseph Fielding Smith also talk about the Lord's return and hear him state that he prays every day for the world to end was a bit unnerving. Certainly President Smith was a product of the horrors he had witnessed in the world since 1900 and he would desire for the worlds misery to end. On the opposite side of this , in 1997 I was standing next to President Hinckley when he just blurted out "I don't know why the Saints are so impatient for the Lord to return.. They are not ready" So what I take from all this? Just be actively engaged in the good cause, fulfil your duty to the Lord, look after the straying sheep from His ward's family. Your oil lamp will always be full, you will not fear, and you will not be caught out when He does return. The cleansing of the World will start with the unrighteous and lukewarm in His Church, those that once "prophesy in His name and cast out demons and perform many miracles" but now the Lord will reject them because they did not endure faithfully to the end.

Love this, the Spirit testified it was correct. No fear, yet faith in the Lord's anointed or his prophet will help us be ready. I do like how it was mentioned that the temple in Jerusalem must be consecrated by the Lord's priesthood in order for it to be desecrated. I.e. a temple by the church of Jesus Christ of latter day saints must be built in Jerusalem before the second coming. What a profound statement by BYU scholars who don't know exactly when the second coming will take place. We must remember, the prophet will know before we will. Also, what is prophetic in the discussion is there will be missionaries and leadership of the people in their own lands preaching the gospel. So, having missionaries called in their own lands (country) to preach the gospel and Temple in every country would be an indication that the Lord's work is almost complete and he is ready to come for the second time. Since this was first aired in 1994 there has been progress in the gospel being preached and spread, yet the gospel, missionaries, leadership and Temples are not in all lands (countries) of the world yet. However, I do believe that we are being prepared by our prophet for changes that will and may escalate the spread of the gospel to all corners of the earth. I realized that after watching this, that some may understand the prophecy of Daniel and provided timelines when these things might be, yet they aren't coming from the Prophet, therefore they shouldn't in my opinion should be taken as a true and accurate timeline when the Savior Jesus Christ returns. However, we should know the doctrine and be ready. Be ready is the ability as stated in the discussion to be able to hear the Lord's voice. This gives me comfort to focus on being ready then worry what will happen prior to his coming. This is what we have been taught. This is what Christ told us would happen. The elect that listen to the Prophet and the Lord's voice will be ready and prepared while the world will be over taken like a thief in the night. This is my own insight and opinion in the matter. Yet the Spirit did testify of the validity of the content. I can't be more grateful to feel that than watch other videos and be in f fear because of speculation that is circulating on social media in some circles.

You can tell the Lord has been Hastening His Work. Look what’s happened since this video was published. Especially, in April 2021 Conference where we had 20 Temples announced! Obviously, there’s still a little bit more left before Christ comes, but you know we’re getting closer when the Lord’s Prophet announces that many Temples!

Fascinating discussion. One clarification is that the Levites do have the Aaronic priesthood and they can build their temple of old and God can except it if done righteously. 🤔

I've been looking for a reference in scripture or latter day prophecy that compares the second coming to a woman in labor. This video helped!!! She mentioned Thessalonians. I came up with 1 Thessalonians 5:3. Any one else find more I'd love to see it. Great discussion, great video for a Sunday afternoon!

I’m wondering if you still feel the same way about how the missionary work needs to be done, given that we are seeing missionaries using the online platform more and more. Of course they still need to connect to members or missionaries in their own area, but there is a lot of work being done remotely. Things have changed significantly since 1999 when this was recorded.

I think that temples are required in order to say that an area ( country) has been covered. You only get kings/ priests and queens/priestesses through temples.

We have to be steadfast in the gospel, be numbered among the elite, so that we are saved in that glorious day. Verse 29, speaking of pestilences, are we not in a pandemic? A reaction of which has never been seen? How important is the word of wisdom now?

They did not mention October 2001 general we're President Hinckley said: The vision of Joel has been fulfilled wherein he declared: “And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions: “And also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those days will I pour out my spirit. “And I will shew wonders in the heavens and in the earth, blood, and fire, and pillars of smoke. “The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and the terrible day of the Lord come. “And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be delivered: for in mount Zion and in Jerusalem shall be deliverance, as the Lord hath said, and in the remnant whom the Lord shall call” (Joel 2:28-32). Did I miss where they talked about that?

At minute 5;55 the Lord says that the blood of Abel will be upon their heads. how could that be? It seems to me that the account of the death of Abel lacks a great deal of content as to all that happened at the time of Abel's death. it suggests to me that others were involved.

I do think the whole pin in each Nation thing is a huge mistake and misunderstanding. It is absolutely true that it will be taught in every Nation before Lord comes again in his glory to reign. However, in between the beginning of the “last days” and the “Second Coming” is a long period with a lot of very extreme stuff happen, including all the plagues, wars (far far worse than what they talk about), and Saints of the Lord sent to all those left to have a final chance at repentance before the end. Very much like Helaman and 3rd Nephi. If you sit around waiting for that last pin, about half way done your whole world is going to come crumbling around you. It would be better to treat it like it is starting tomorrow and you will have to wait 100 years for the worse to be over.

So in our Sunday School today our EQ president told us something that Elder Soares, the apostle, told them in a Regional Leadership meeting yesterday in our area in Idaho. Elder Soares told them that "The Second Coming is very near. " SO cool! He also gave ways for us to prepare... 1. Study the Atonement 2. Teach Pure Doctrine 3. Base all teaching on the scriptures and words of modern day prophets 4. Teach by the Spirit. It sounds like it's a lot closer than you think!😁👏🏻
